Show off your kids' Valentines and Boxes!

I finished up Jeffrey's box a few minutes ago... he insisted that he wanted an iPod, but really did NOT want to make it himself, so I did it... I spent waaaay too much time dodging/burning to really get the perfect gradient look on the upper silver bar, battery, blue play button, and the song timer thing, but I'm convinced that people would notice if I didn't do it (no one notices when things are done right, but when they aren't done right, it's pretty obvious. Lol)

Here's the original from the computer:

And the finished box (I know it looks like I took the picture using a potato, but my cell phone was all I had handy):

I just printed out what I made and taped it on a box we'd wrapped with silver paper from Walmart. Then I cut out a place at the bottom (where a charger would go).

I'm pretty proud of it... lol. Jeffrey loves it.

YOUR TURN! Show off your kids' boxes or Valentine cards! (We're still figuring out the cards. I mean, the party IS tomorrow, so we have time, right?)

(On a vent side- our homeschooling group decided YESTERDAY to have a V-day party TOMORROW! EEP!)

I don't have mine done yet. I know what we're doing for the Valentines, but I'm stumped on the boxes since we've never needed to do them before. I'll be watching this thread closely.

That is so cool!!! I'm so jealous of you girls who get to make vday boxes - my girls just decorate a paper bag in school :(
You definitely kicked butt on this!!
And I've never made them their own cards to pass out... they like buying cute doggie ones at the store lol.

And I have to say...
(I know it looks like I took the picture using a potato, but my cell phone was all I had handy)

:D:D:D OMG, I'm dying!! Seriously. This is the funniest thing I've read all day!! I don't even know why... But, I totally needed a laugh today :D

We only have to do the cards, and the mailboxes are done in school. I don't have these in the gallery yet because I need to attach the candy and photograph them, but here are the 2 I have done so far. I still have to do Lauren's.

Ben's space themed

Jay's pokemon themed

My 8 year old is at the stage where all mushy stuff is prohibited, so I couldn't even write something like "Valentine, I choose you." Only the exact wording used by Pokemon trainers, which is acceptably non-lovey. Ben follows his lead, so no mention of the love holiday on his either, LOL.

Rachel - I am dreading the day mine gets to the non-mushy age. So for right now, I'm taking full advantage of it :)

Love all these adorable boy valentines!!

I just let my kids go at it with heart & owl foam stickers, markers, glue, glitter paints, red paper, ribbon, silk flowers and pinking shears. The result was truly a valentine vomit, but they were proud to have their hands in the process. LOL. Next year we'll do something less messy. ;)

Definitely do! I'm lucky that I'm the 1 exception to Jason's no-mushy-stuff rule. So I still get lots of hugs and kisses, and it's just everyone else that's out of luck. I'm dreading when that changes :(

They are making little heart bags at school.
Here are Anna's, they will be a double sided wallet & she can write her name on them when they get here, they aren't allowed to address them individually.

Oh my gosh... these are all SO cute!

We finally figured out what we would do for the actual valentines themselves. We were first planning on getting pop rocks and saying "Valentine, you rock!" but after searching 3 stores, no luck.

Instead, we got boxes of conversation hearts, took string and attached it to the boxes, with reese's PB cups on the other end (no nut allergies tomorrow, so we got lucky) of the string... then those are wrapped in the same silver wrapping paper, and I'm designing up some iPod labels for those really quickly, so they'll look like iPods to match his box...

Phew! I'm worn out!

Ditto...plus all the kids care about is the candy!! :D :D

So we just got ones at Wal Mart:

Ring pop ones
Star Wars with lolipop ones
Skittle Ones

:D :D

I did however get the teachers (6 of them) soap from Bath and Body Works and I made a cute little tag that says:

I "soap" you'll be my Valentine!!!

I know they'll appreciate that!!!

i did this for the teachers...

then made a pocket for a starbucks gift card in the back with the kids name.

then for the kids i did a variation of this...but i used the star wars font instead and i filled int he boys names...we can't send in candy. we have a no food rule at our school - unless it is fruit or vegetables!

Wow, I'm in awe of these cards - I never ever made any for Cheyanne. She either made them herself (2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade) or she got ones from the store. She's in Jr. High this year so no more cards/candy. They've moved onto white, red, and pink carnations that they purchase from the student council.

since then i've seen ones where the kid is dressed up as luke skywalker with the lightsaber pushed down and the glow stick coming out. and another with a yoda on it that was adorable too. but i did these a couple weeks ago so that's what they have!

OH these are so cute!! We always just decorated a tissue box (the kids glued and glittered away). That is what I did in school and totally loved it. We homeschool though, so we don't need the boxes anymore. They just make personal valentines for their friends.

Hehehe... love these! :D My kids are taking goodie bags with pencils, bubbles, little heart shaped puzzles and plastic hearts with candy in them. I was going to do cute scrapped treat toppers but remembered I had ordered some address labels from Shutterfly and instead of putting an address I just had them printed with Happy Valentine's Day from Tierney Kid. It was easier to plop a sticker on the ziploc holding the treats than it was to print something, cut them all out, fold them and staple them on... especially when they will last all of 2 minutes once the parties start! The kids are doing store bought Valentine's this year (got TONS of them for 95% off after Valentine's Day last year). My daughter wanted to make her own but she doesn't want anything cute and scrapped or with her photo on it... she wants to sit down, like she did last year, and make them out of construction paper, rubber stamps, glue and markers.

The pic is on my camera yet - but Blake gave dinos to his friends. So we had a little goodie bag with a few dinos with a topper that said "You are Dino-mite!" He loved them :) I'll definitely update this post once I get the pics off my camera :)

I actually just found out earlier today that Logan's class is doing Valentine's cards this year (The teacher never sent home a note, so I assumed she wasn't letting them do cards), so I threw these together really quickly. They're wallet-size.

LOL I am with you Laura except my Emma had some puppies and kitten ones, Caleb had G-force and Ethan had Toy story. We tapped some Laughy Taffy and starbursts to them though....

PS love those sucker ones and might try that next year when I am not thinking wedding wedding wedding....

Here's my kids':

DD #1 is in charge of the treat bags for their party so here they are - her valentines coordinate with them.

And DS's valentines:

Here's Jason's

Jasons-Valentine-Box.jpg

We had fun with the box but he opted to go the play-doh route for his valentines this year....we bought play-doh, pencils and erasers for the class!!

I had saved a monster box, and saved a klenx box only to find out they were decorating bags at school to use. That way everyone would have a bag. :(
But my son loves superheros and requested the "Super Pops" as he has named them.

These are great! Here's my last one. Lauren's teacher requested no candy, so we attached a small sheet of stickers to the backs.
