Brian finally got to his permanent location this week. Before he left a friend of his who just got back from Afghanistan let him borrow one of those Magic Jack things to make phone calls using the internet. This morning on my way to church my cell phone rang and it was a local number I didn't recognize..I answered and it was Brian! Calling from his living quarters and sounding like he was right next door. So he can call me and I can call him and it's completely free! Well, he's having to pay a monthly fee over there to get better internet service but it's totally worth it to know I can pick up the phone and call him!

Technology is amazing.
 
Wow. That is amazing! I am so happy for you and your family. That must be a comfort knowing he is just a phone call away. ((HUGS))
 
Yay! That will make ALL the difference now. Just knowing you could call him if you need to will be a huge peace of mind.
 
Thanks :)...I really didn't think it would work as well as it did...the last time he was over there phone calls were few and far between..just knowing I can call him and we can have a conversation without 75 other guys around him is so great!

Yay! Technology is amazing and has changed deployments/remote assignments for the better!

We have vonage over here and use it to call The States (and have family call us here for free) and other than time zones, it makes you feel normal!
