Renting a DSLR

I have been researching DSLRs for sometime now. I have read so many posts all over the web trying to compile info so that I can make an informed choice, since this will be a major purchase.

I know that everyone says to go to a store and play around with the cameras (hold them, etc.), which I have done, and that brand prefernce varies by person. BUT I am still unsure.

I just found that Lens Pro to go rents cameras (I knew they rented lenses). Has anyone ever rented a DSLR and tried one out before purchasing? I know that this will mean more money out of pocket, but I am wondering if this will halp me make up my mind.

Thanks,
Kristin

I've never done this with a camera but I have with lenses...to get a feel for them before a purchase. I think it's a great idea :)

I also think its an awesome idea. If you've founds a place that rents them, go for it.

Something I love at the college I go for photography, we got a grant from Canon, so there are Rebels, 60D's, 7D's and 5D's, and we can borrow those to do our assignments with. It's nice to see if the camera suits you. I'm afraid to borrow the 5d, because then I'll want it. LOL!

Same thing with lens.

I haven't done it but I've thought about doing it for the same reason. I'm just waiting until I have the money saved up because I don't want to fall in love with something and not be able to get it, haha. But I too am at the point where I've been to the store a million times and still can't decide so I think renting the two options and comparing the photos may be the best plan, even if it's a little extra money.

I thin it's a wonderful idea to take some for a test drive before you buy. I just wish renting cameras wasn't so darn expensive! Don't forget that if you rent the camera, you'll need to rent or borrow memory cards too.
