So, when I get my Mac laptop in a few months, the desktop I have right now is going to be for DH and the kids. During the day, the kids can use it (I will make it so they can't access the internet, not that they'd know how yet since they're only 4 and 5 years old, lol...and have NOT been allowed to touch it in their entire lives)

Anyhow, a friend babysat my kids a few months ago and she allowed them to play some games on their computer...so I thought I'd like to get them some good games that are educational and will help them out in school. Mason will have just started grade 1 when he is allowed to use the computer, and Natalie will be in preschool. Oh, and they're pretty good at figuring games out, they both have Nintendo DS's, and we have a GameCube for them and a V-Smile as well.

So, any recommendations of good games that will help with things like reading, alphabets, basic math skills?

There are some good Reader Rabbit Games (both reading and math) that Kylie loved at that age. There's also a series called "Jumpstart" and they have them divided by grade level - Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st grade, etc...

my son liked the Jumpstart and Reader Rabbit too. Our public library has CD-Rom games that can be checked out; you might want to check yours to see what they have.
