LOL! My 9 month old puppyish-dog keeps doing this SUPER annoying thing. She goes outside, then scratches on the door to come back in, I open the door and she just stands there. Will not come in. If I reach for her, she runs off. So I close the door and walk away. She scratches like mad to come in. I open the door, and she stands there looking at me like, "What? Did you want something?
ARGH!
Ok, gimme some ideas here. It's driving me bananas.

She wants you to go outside with her.
If the yard is fenced in, I'd just walk away from the door. She'll get the picture eventually and wander off and do her business.
Yep, sounds like she wants you to come play...

yup..she wants to play
my dog has been depressed since we moved..he barely eats and he doesn't run his "circles" around the door like he did at our old house...I can just look in his eyes and see his sadness..it's kinda sad for me

Imagine how London feels. My human just doesn't understand me . . . I try and I try . . . but she just doesn't get it . . .

ROFL Mimi!! Yep, she probably wants you to play with her! My cat does the same: ask to go out (in the garage actually) by meowing soooo badly, then does the exact same thing on the other side of the door! DBF was on the phone with our internet company and the lady even asked if something was wrong with the cat! ROFL!!!

OOOOOOOhhhhhh, I get it. I seem to have the logic of a 3 year old I guess. Well, I have to give her some credit for persistence, lol! Maybe I will try ignoring that behavior and then when she finally comes in play with her like crazy. It will work so well that I will appear on Animal Planet to teach the rest of the world my brilliant ways.
Thanks, everyone :)

LOL Mimi!!!! I wonder if my cat thinks this too. He scratches at the door, I open it, he just stands there. I try to "help" him out the door, and he turns around and goes back inside and lies down. Weirdo animals.

My cat will meow at me and I'll start to walk away, then she jumps on the counter (or whatever room piece of furniture) and "paw" me on the back, it's so adorable. :)

That's cute. My cat darts out from under the bed when I'm walking by and smacks me in the leg. She thinks this is great fun. She will also race up the back of the recliner when I'm on my way into the kitchen and smack me. Scares me everytime!

We asked our neighbor to feed our cats once when we away for the weekend. She said he'd be so nice to her when she came up the stairs and put food in his bowl. He'd rub his head on her leg, purr, etc. Then when she started going down the stairs he'd wrap his arms around her and started biting her foot and leg and wouldn't let go. She had to bring her daughter in one day to show her his crazy behaviour. Same thing...he just wanted her to stick around to play. The things pets do! :)
