I am wanting to get a laptop with our tax refund so I can take my scrapbooking with me, as we travel a lot in summer. my husband mentioned to me last night that I might want to get an Apple. I don't know a thing about them (well, any computer for that matter. I am really dumb when it comes to computers). My question is -Why would I want an Apple. What is better about them than just a dell or compaq? Anyone with an Apple please help me. I definitly want to get the best one for me but I also don't want to go broke getting one. Thanks for any light you can shed on the subject!

Paula and Zoe have Macs.

Can you go to an Apple store to check them out IRL? They are very pretty but I don't really understand them (I'm too PC brainwashed).

but a lot of people seem to love them.

Mac's are good for graphics. They are what people in the graphic design industry use like 90% of the time (if I had to guess).

I'm too PC oriented to switch to Mac anytime soon. Plus DH would be the one to fix any issues, and he knows nothing about Mac's.

My uncle is a graphic designer and he has used Macs for as long as I can remember and really likes them. I've used PCs for so long that I don't think I could switch. I remember using his Mac once when I was in school to type a paper and it was really frustrating trying to figure it out, I think I had to type it twice cause I somehow lost the first draft lol!

I'm getting a new PC with part of our stimulus rebate but I'm going with a desktop not a laptop so I can maximize my specs for less $$. Plus my DH already has a Dell laptop that I have PSE6 and Lightroom loaded on since I've been using it for a few months and if we do travel I'll just take that. So far I'm looking at Dell's and Gateway's, the Dell's are a bit more expensive though. Whatever you go with you'll want a fast processor, at least 3-4GB of RAM, a nice large hard drive and a good graphics card!

I love my mac laptop! I got it about 6 months ago when my PC became too old and slow.

I would suggest going to an apple store to play with one to see how you like it before buying one if you are not familiar with macs.

me too! my dad fixes everything. he'd die if i got a mac. lol.

i took a graphic class on a mac. and hated it. my aunt swears by them, though.
i think it's personal preference. i'm a PC girl. won't give up my pc for anything.

i'd recommend you just go to the apple store and try them out. it's good when you can actually see and touch them. much easier to make a decision.
