I need help!

Should I get rid of the stuff on my EHD that I haven't used in FOREVER to make room for new stuff that I will use? I'm not talking about SSD stuff either, as I still use pretty much all of that. There is stuff on there from when I first went digital that I will not touch now because it's SO not my style now.

Does anyone else ever go through these thoughts? I have such a hard time getting rid of some of this stuff because I equate it to paper scrapping, where you keep your scraps (at least I did) because you never know when you will need them.

You are reading my mind! I've decided to do "spring cleaning" on my EHD, 'cuz uh designing takes up a lot of hard drive space! And I'm sad about deleting stuff but I think it's not stuff I'll be using anyway. But if you think deleting is a bad choice for you, then just burn a backup disc and delete from the hard drive! You'll have more space for the stuff you really want :)

oh, i have stuff i haven't touched in a long time. i'm rapidly running out of space on my laptop, so everything i haven't used in the past three or four months is going onto my big computer and staying there unless i need it.

i thought about the whole 'backup disk' thing. but i lose stuff like that. lol.

I just went through a whole bunch of stuff that I know I will never use again. I decided to just get rid of it, but you could always save it to a CD/DVD if you change your mind, :)

I'm so bad about deleting... so I burn off each month to a disc. This way, I feel okay about it and it frees up space. I know that I probably won't ever touch the discs, but I just cannot delete for some reason, LOL!

I just bought a 500 gig EHD, so I really don't have to worry about it, but I am still thinking of burning to disc all my old stuff from when I first went digi and used to grab any and all freebies, whether I liked them or not (what was I thinking???). Now I have so much GOOD stuff that I rarely ever even venture into those old folders. Yup, I think I'll burn to disc then delete the oldies. Can't bear to just delete, because the minute I do, I will wish I kept them.

It's just a matter of finding the time to go through it all. It is soooo much.

I backup to disc, then delete from my hard-drive. I just went through this the other day, and now I have a bunch more HD space than I had before. I'm sure I'll fill it back up tomorrow though.

I really have tons of EHD space (800gb) but I like spring cleaning too. I burn kits to dvds first then delete those I don't think I'll be using anymore...it's good to know I "still" have the stuff I deleted.

Funny you should bring this up tonight, I was just saying to Jaclyn that I have SO much stuff that I never used. I don't even know how much, don't want to know. Now that I've been scrapping for awhile, I know what is and isn't my style, so i have a lot of stuff I will probably never use. But I'm a huge packrat!!!

I need to be more like Shannon and start deleting!

LMAO... I was so thinking of you when I saw this!

If you look at it and go EWWW! or if you have had it for more than 3 months...what are the chances you will use it?
My theory is I won't!

I have been known to delete entire designer folders...And it makes me sad for about 2 mintues and then I'm over it and look at all my new fun stuff, that will probably never get used either...LMBO...I'm horrible.
I do however NEVER delete my SSD stuff...its special to me.

What I do.... Or am trying to do.

I have two set of folders. One on my EHD and one on my internal storage drive (I have two internal hard drives) I break everything out into a Digital Scrapbooking Folder by Designer and then Kit Name. Then on my EHD I have a main folder called Digital Scrapbooking Files TOU. In this folder I have a folder for each designer broken up by kit and here I keep the zip files for each kit along with a preview of the kit. This way If I delete the kit in my working folder I can easily find it again if I need to use it. Maybe this will help. I am very reluctant to delete permanently! :p

Good luck!

I have gotten rid of a lot of the eariler stuff. I had TONS of freebies, and the quality is just SOO much better now. I deleted it and have not regreted it at all.

I've been deleting more ruthlessly now. I am so low on space. This is what I did.

First I kinda skimmed through my stash and deleted the old, ugly stuff I knew I'd never use. Then I burned my whole stash to DVD. Then I made a new folder for my new stuff (Normally I organize by designer) with the plan that when I get a DVD's worth I will burn that stuff and then put them in their designer folders. And I've been deleting stuff from my stash and don't feel too bad about it b/c I've already burned it.

Having new stuff go into one folder has been helpful for me b/c I have all my new stuff in one place and am more apt to use it.

But I still have loads to delete.

eta: I have never regretted deleting any digi stuff.

I always remind myself that new digi stuff comes out daily!

I would probably delete some stuff, but I haven't finished organizing/labeling everything that I have... So I can't think about going through and deleting stuff until I have that done first! I know I should do a little every day, but it really seems like an insurmountable task!!!

I'm with Shannon!!

I actually quite enjoy the "spring cleaning" and do it once or twice a month. It makes me feel SOOOOOO good and I have never regretting anything I have deleted. I don't even back up because I know I won't ever hunt down the DVD that had a certain thing on it. My theory is if I need something similar to something I have deleted, I can probably find something better (more current) and just pick that up. so far, I haven't even needed to do that.

Thanks for the reminder, I'm ready to clean out again!!

Oh and I have also deleted whole designer folders. But not my SSD stuff. :)

I definitely delete older stuff -- especially elements because they tend to look more dated. And I've never once "missed" something afterwards. So, I say delete!

I'm getting to this point. I have a few folders of designers that I will not use their stuff anymore. Not that it's not great, just not my style.

I go through my scrapping drive every 6 months or so and delete anything I don't think I will use anymore. I have been getting really tough lately also! So I vote for delete! lol

Im a queen of deleting too. I dont delete CT stuff but if there are things I know I will never use, I dont hesitate to press the delete button. I also keep elements in one kit if I know it is something Ill use again. Otherwise, I delete. Delete. Delete.

This makes me more careful in spending too ;)

I'll chime in with the rest....I'll delete but only if I know it's on CD somewhere. It's like a hoarder's security blankie :P

Im with Jamie - I only delete the TONS of freebies that I have from when I started - The stuff that I know I NEVER use - but that is it - Most of what I keep is what I pay for and I can't delete it - I just keep getting hard drives!!!
