Qnext

So, it looks like Qnext might be the best bet for an alternative to Hello (sob) because it works for PC, Mac, and Linux users AND it allows photo and file sharing.

Really? I can get that to work in Goober, but not in Qnext, it always tells me it can't find the username, but can if I use the number.

ETA: Oh, never mind...I *just* saw the search feature above where you enter the number. Duh!

Call me an idiot, but Tracey and I have been trying to use Qnext and we can't seem to share pics unless we download them and can't figure out how to do screen shots either! Are there tutorials out there??

When you're in a chat with someone, on the top right of the screen there is a pic icon (in the middle of two others). Click on that and it will open a window for you to drag and drop the pics in. Then when the person receives it, it will show up on the main qnext screen. (Meg taught me that)

I get a 'yellow' connection with Qnet & to make it green it wants me to change stuff on my router. I'm sure it is probably fine, but I really don't like messing about with my router configuration. I wonder how much I can do as a yellow instead of green?

Well I always used it to show a layout in process, or something you wanted to buy at a store. Easier than giving a link & it was instant.

Yellow and green are the type of connection strength you have, better downloads and sharing speeds. In the main qnext window under your user name in the upper left corner is the qnext symbol with a dot on it. That dot will show you your connection strength, green, dark green, yellow or red. Mine's yellow for some reason, even though I did make the router changes it suggested. I can still chat. I suspect I wouldn't want to share streaming audio or video though.

yes they show up immediately. Qnext doesn't seem to have the request user permission option. though you can ban people.
