how do you organize your brushes?

Do you keep them all in one folder and load as needed? or are they all loaded? I have so many alphas and other brushes that's it's cumbersome scrolling through them and I wonder if I shouldn't store them a different way.

i upload as soon as i download. I have a bunch too. it is a pain to search through them all. I don't know if there is a better way to categorize them or not.

I have no idea how to permanently load brushes :o.

I just load as I need them. They're not really organized. They just stay in the designer's folder.

None of my brushes load automatically when I open PS.
Brushes all go into the "brushes" folder and I load when I need them.

The best way I have figured out to use brushes is to, well NOT use them...LMBO!
I think it's different with PS, but with PSP its a PITA to use brushes...If I want to use a brush I use it as a PNG file...

I don't load my brushes until I need them, mind you I hardly ever use them!

There is a program out there called ABRViewer (it's free) that "peeks" into the actual .abr files and shows you what is in them, so it's easier to find the one you need and load it.

If you keep your brushes automatically loaded, it will slow your computer WAY down when loading PS/PSE, it's recommended you only have the defaults and maybe a couple that you use ALL the time, and keep the rest in a separate folder and load as you need them.

I only load mine as needed (I don't know how to perm. upload them).
I put all of my brushes into a separate folder titled "brushes" (genius, I know) with subfolders labeled "alphas", doodles/flourish, date stamps, paint (strokes, splatters, etc), frames, and misc.
It works out well for me.

Like the rest, I have no real organization system for my brushes. However, I am thinking about doing something similar to what I'm doing for my fonts right now. For those, I've created a word document with each of the fonts names written in its own font - I have it 3 columns deep (of course I'm a fontaholic and I'm on page 5 and I'm only through the G's). When I get to the fonts that are actually pictures, I'll have the name in a simple font and then A through D in the "font". I'll probably use this last method for the brushes. Then I'll print it all out and file it in a notebook for a reference. That way I can easily look and decide before I have to hunt via the viewer.

I don't bother loading brushes as most of the ones to come out in the last year or two are not compatible with my version of PS. I rarely use them, in brush or PNG form, anyways, unless they are alpha brushes. I just don't have a 'brush' mind, I think. When I'm looking to finish up a layout, I just never think to add some brushwork. That's what pretty papers are for, right?! With the brushwork built in! *lol*

It's more efficient for me to have a 'Building Blocks' folder on my computer HD that contains my most favoritest/actually used non-themed brushes, overlays, templates, paper tears, and masks so I can readily access and use them even when I am not at my house with my EHDs. There are probably 20 folders in there or so.

HTH, dear. :)

I don't know if you've ever heard of the free program called The Font Thing, but it is cool in that you can scroll through your fonts and see them. I use it for titles a lot and I'll type my title in their slot and see how it looks in all the different fonts. It's a good thing to see all the fonts in a decent size!

the brush viewer in ACDSee10 photo manager is pretty cool. Plus you can load the brush from ACDSee.

I just load them as I need them. Of course, I have no idea what i have, so maybe I should do a seperate brushes folder.

I don't load them unless I'm going to use them. I have them saved in a special photoshop folder so I know where to find all of them at once.
