No perm for me!

So I am kinda bummed, but oh well. They really recommended I not get a perm as my hair is extremely dry they said. I was a little baffled by that cause since that wonderful Pre "M" has come into my life I thought I had oily hair. She said no, you don't have oily hair, just an oily scalp, gee thanks!! LOL!! So I just got a trim with some layers and a little bit of bangs. Bad thing is though when your bangs grow out and you "train" them to go to the sides, guess where the new bangs go now? LOL!! So no pic as there is nothing new to show. Oh well, I tried. I did go buy some new clothes to soften the blow though. :p

Oh that stinks Melissa! I've tried perm after perm, as I have poker straight, lifeless hair and they have ALL been bad, LOL! I have the scary school pics to prove it!
Hope you get some cute clothes thought!

awwe I'm sorry that you couldn't get a perm hun, I bet your still a hot mama without it, and you know you should still take a pic cause I wanna see it!!

Shopping is always good therapy for me! Sorry about you not being able to get a perm. :(

Aww sorry chickie! I bet the cut still looks cute! You still must show us that pic! LOL!! And shopping is ALWAYS great therapy!

Shopping always does wonders! I'm sorry you couldn't get the perm...at least they told you NOT to do it instead of doing it anyway and then have it go crazy on you.

Sorry you didnt get your perm. I've had exactly one perm my whole life. It didnt last as long as they said it should have, my hair just wouldnt hold on to it :(

Sorry abut the dissapointment honey! Nothing like some good retail therapy to get ya back on track!

It was meant to be Melissa. I have to be honest, I was a little nervous for you to get a perm. So many things can go wrong with perms and then there is not much you can do about it. I am sure you look cute with your new bangs. Glad you went shopping.....it is the perfect thing to lift one's mood.

As long as it's not for a swim suit...that actually will depress me. LOL

Glad you went shopping.....it is the perfect thing to lift one's mood.

It always sucks when you get excited about something and then it doesn't happen, so sorry for that!

You know, my scalp has gone insanely dry lately. I've always had really dry hands, and some dry patches on my face, but now my cheeks look like a scrape them up against a brick wall from time to time. I'm wondering if it isn't early menopause. So, not to hijack Lisa's thread, but does anyone recommend shampoo for the dry scalp...for fine hair and sensitive skin?

sorry you couldn't get to do what you wanted to do. But I'm with Susan about perms. I had one bad one as a kid and have been scarred for life. (bad as in just ugly, didn't physically damage me but the mental trauma lives on)

I'm totally with Susan on this one too. I've got such fine, thin hair myself, and perms have not been my friend. Even ones I thought worked out okay at the time, when I look back on those pictures now I just think, UGH!

So, it wasn't meant to be, and that is probably for the better. Your new cut is no doubt cute as all get out, and a big HOORAY for retail therapy!!

Melissa that stinks but I'm glad you got to go shopping! So let me ask, do you color your hair too? That could be the cause of the dryness and getting a perm on top would just be a very bad thing!

I suggest you do a few mayonnaise treatments. Wet your hair and put some mayo in it (it has to be the real stuff like Cains or Helmans not the spread stuff), a good huge spoonful. Wrap it up in a baggie and let it sit for half an hour. Then wash it out really good. It's awesome for your hair and if you do one every few weeks you'll be amazed at the difference and you may be able to get a perm at a later time.
