tettletop20 05-26-2012 08:30 PM

I'm not usually one for this type of stuff but the preview looked interesting (saw it while watching American Pickers)! I may just set the DVR!

I'm watching it too! He's totally crazy! I'd take the amount of cash they were offering! Silly man....

pam4gators 05-29-2012 06:40 PM

I watched a few minutes and was very disappointed with all the profanity and violence we turned it. :(

Traci Reed 05-29-2012 06:49 PM

How bad could the profanity have been on the History channel? I haven't watched it yet.

Nikki Epperson 05-29-2012 06:54 PM

We started watching but got sleepy so the first one is recorded and ready to go for us to watch tomorrow or maybe tonight if I get the kids to settle early.

Me either....

I'm going to try to watch it this evening. My little sister (she's 9) is with me this week, so we've been watching a lot of Disney Channel.

Darcy Baldwin 05-29-2012 06:56 PM

Traci - the use of the Lord's name in vain a ton was off putting to me - and in the 30 min or so I watched it, it happened a lot. I had other obligations so I won't get to watch the whole show, but that did bother me a lot. But they show other violent movies there, too, so I half expected that.

Pam - it's definitely a 'movie' and not a documentary, so it's going to be more like what you see elsewhere.

Aw man! I haven't had a chance to watch it yet either but this disappoints me.

LJSDesigns 05-29-2012 07:15 PM

I've got it recorded but am not sure when I will watch. I was very interested in the history of it. Have a family connection to the Hatfields. A very loose connection. Lol

Julie Billingsley 05-29-2012 07:17 PM

I watched last night and I'm recording tonights. It's pretty violent, very corse language and tone, and probably pretty acurate to the reality given the tension. It's rated TV-14, and I completely agree. I won't have my 9 year old watch it for sure.

origami 05-29-2012 07:56 PM

My DH and I watched the first episode and plan to watch the next two in the series. My husband and I both have an interest in 19th century American history. I'm not surprised about the language or the violence, given that it is a historical dramatization of the one of the bloodiest feuds in our national history. It's actually gotten some very good reviews. Kevin Costner seems to have realized that he's better off playing a 19th century Southerner rather than an 12th century English nobleman!

Lindsay 05-29-2012 08:03 PM

We're watching it right now and have been very impressed. Looking forward to tonight.

Darcy Baldwin 05-29-2012 08:06 PM

It's times like this I REALLY wish we had a DVR lol. I'm gonna have to wait for the repeats. They'll be replaying all 3 episodes on Saturday night.

It's really the only way we get any TV watched at our house! My kids actually don't really like watching television and we're fairly choosy about what we watch.

I'm glad I have you all here on SSD to keep me informed as to what's going on in the world! Ha!

Libby Pritchett 05-29-2012 10:44 PM

Well we don't get the History Channel, but I watched the first part at my sister's house last night. I really really liked it but also found the language very distracting.

I'm super bummed that I won't be able to catch the other 2 episodes unless they end up on Netflix or something. Does anyone know if they will have them available to view online anywhere?

Libby Pritchett 05-29-2012 11:05 PM

I just answered my own question! Looks like the episodes ARE gonna be available on History.com The first episode is already up.

Traci Reed 05-30-2012 12:09 AM

LOL bad language and violence (at least the level they can show on cable) don't bother me so I should be good to go!

maryinaz 05-30-2012 12:24 AM

Certain bad language does bother me and I didn't think it was all that bad. Heck, some books have worse language than this (I'm looking at you Fifty ;) ) LOL

It's definitely a cable show, not made for network TV (although that gets pretty bad IMO sometimes too!).

nikkiARNGwife 05-30-2012 07:41 AM

I finally watched the first episode last night. Wasn't crazy about the language but it could have been a lot worse for sure.

I enjoyed it though..but I had a hard time keeping up with who was who with the minor characters b/c there were so many of them lol.

I'm recording it to DVD as I watch to send Brian..It's something he'll really like.

This. I had serious problems remembering who was who and what family they were in. lol.

I really, really liked the first one. I would have started right up with the second but it was already past my bedtime. Hopefully, I will get to it tonight.

Nikki Epperson 05-30-2012 08:58 AM

I enjoyed it. I had a hard time keeping up with characters too, but once it started clicking, I was okay.

We have only watched the first one. Dusty wants to watch the 2nd one tonight and if we have time, we'll watch the one from tonight also.

momof2angels 05-30-2012 07:53 PM

I'm gonna' watch it, but am waiting for the reruns of each part to air in the next few days so that we can record it.

emmasmommy 05-30-2012 07:58 PM

i'm in love. can't wait for tonight :)

kresta 05-31-2012 12:45 AM

My hubby has been watching it. I missed the first night and am not really 'into' it, but have been in the room while he's watched it. It's so depressing! I really have no interest in it because it's just a bunch of killing, but it's right up my husband's alley.

Lindsay 05-31-2012 06:53 AM

Huge storm hit Wichita and took our cable out for the night. Thanks for the heads up about Saturday.

Nikki Epperson 05-31-2012 07:02 AM

We watched the last 2 last night. Dusty loved it (I knew he would). I was surprised by how much I got into it!

tettletop20 05-31-2012 07:15 AM

I'm loving everyone's reviews. I DVR'd it all so I will be watching at some point.

emmasmommy 05-31-2012 07:34 AM

i loved it. i was honestly surprised. dh wanted to watch and iw as just meh, but he wound up falling asleep (each night) and i always watched.

Libby Pritchett 05-31-2012 09:52 AM

We didn't get to watch it last night, and I was actually disappointed! LOL I plan to finish it up this weekend!

tonyasmith 05-31-2012 10:20 AM

My dh told me about it, He watched every night... I watched it with him for a few minutes but I didn't watch it all, I do think the characters were very well played!!

nikkiARNGwife 05-31-2012 10:33 AM

Watched part 2 last night and will finish it tonight. I'm really enjoying it...Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton have aged so much :(

nikkiARNGwife 05-31-2012 03:46 PM

just saw this..not surprised at all...and if there was a trailer tacked onto the Avengers I bet that had a LOT to do with it too :)
