Ohhh I might like that first Krista. I really wish I could get back into reading more. Every time I pick up my Kindle I either have to stop for something else or I fall asleep. lol

I've been slowing down on my 2-3 audiobooks a week habit- we've just been super busy. But! I have read some great ones the month of May & so far in June:

my latest 5 star read:
The Celebrants by Steven Rowley (Actually have loved ALL his books)

4 stars:
The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren
The lonely Hearts Book Club by Lucy Gilmore
Did you hear about Kitty Karr by Crystal Smith Paul
The House of Eve by Sadeqa Johnson
The Lost English Girl by Julia Kelly
Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez
The Mostly true Story of Tanner and Louise by Colleen Oakley
The German Wife by Kelly Rimmer
The Last Carolina Girl by Meagan Church

My goodreads if you want to follow ;)

My to be read list (and pile- I do still read paper books occasionally too!) is GINORMOUS, but constantly growing so I don't let that bother me too much!

I have not been reading (listening) to nearly as much. I had started listening to books while I work but lately i'm trying to listen to focus weird playlists to see if that helps because everything is a struggle.

I haven't read anything all that standout-ish this year. I've been tired and I haven't wanted to devote myself to anything too heavy. I've been listening to mostly romance. There are a LOT of really silly miscommunication tropes in romance books lately and it drives me ABSOLUTELY bonkers every time because these people are adults and should be able to communicate like adults and not teenagers.

Currently listening to on my walks "big duke energy" by emma hart it's a
contemporary romance about a historical author who goes away to try and change scenery/get inspired and falls for a duke.

The Celebrants sounds really good, and I'm currently tenth in line for it.

Yesterday, I read I Will Find You by Harlan Coben. It's about a dad serving a life sentence for killing his son, and he after five years, he gets evidence that his son is still alive. It was really good, and I finished it in one day.

I'm also re-listening to the Hamish Macbeth series. I'm currently on book 34, which is the latest release that I haven't read yet, and I'm soooo sad for it to end! If you like cozy mysteries, it's a really nice series set in the highlands of Scotland.

The other thing I'm reading is a lot heavier, but it's helping me think through some of the residue of growing up in Christian purity culture. It's called Non-Toxic Masculinity, and it really hits on a lot of my own concerns about what I was taught in church about gender roles.

Love this thread!!! And I am going to go stalk ALL your Goodreads! I am currently reading Firekeepers Daughter
Ladies I will warn you that I read mostly YA lit, LOL, but here is my Goodreads.

angiekey 06-27-2023 11:47 PM

I must follow you all on Goodreads!

It looks like I'm the odd one out, but I'm a science fiction fan. I dig hard sci-fi as well as speculative fiction; if I'm going to read fantasy, it's urban fantasy (think vampires and sexy fae rather than hobbits, trolls, and orcs).

My latest run of books has been Orson Scott Card's Enderverse. I finished Shadow Puppets (which was pretty good) and I'm about to start either Shadow of the Giant or Speaker for the Dead.

I'm thinking about re-listening to Jeremy Robinson's Singularity (this series blew my mind!)

https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/...50_FMwebp_.jpg

And I've got Daisy Jones and the Six waiting for me, but I haven't been in the mood to start it. Instead, I've been re-listening to Kim Harrison's Hollows series. Book #17 just came out, but I started reading these 20+ years ago, so I thought I'd go back to the beginning and refresh myself.

And if none of those speak to me, I've got book #11 of Karen Marie Moning's Fever series in my queue.

Are there any other sci-fi readers here? Tell me what you're reading these days!

The majority of my bookshelf is kid books from my days of being a teacher.
A young adult author I was introduced to that writes amazing books is Ruta Sepetys. I linked to her goodreads page. I have read Out of the Easy, and I Must Betray You. She writes very moving historical fiction.
