Qotd: Birthday presents for friends. What do you buy your friends?

One of my closest friends celebrated her birthday a few weeks ago. I'm not the most creative person when it comes to buying birthday presents.
I haven't seen her since her birthday, so I'm taking her to dinner tonight. Nothing fancy, but I think she'll enjoy it.

Do you buy presents for your (best) friends? Do you spend a lot of money? What do you buy them?

Here its normal to give an envelop with money.they already have so much stuff.
Normal is 10 to 15 €.
Or else some flowers or a coupon from a store

Nope, I don't do presents for friends. Taking them out to dinner would be present enough.

I normally don't take my friends out for dinner, but since I had no inspiration on what to buy her, I thought about going out for dinner instead.

Maybe you can get her a gift card?
My close friends are all so far away, we haven't met each other in years...

A gift card is a great idea. I'll keep it in mind for next time.

That must be hard Sherly. Do you keep in touch with them through mail, facebook, phone?

Not always. If I do I usually get them a gift card to a salon so they can have a mani or pedi.

I'd so much rather DO something with my friends than GET something from them, so a dinner together sounds perfect. My friends have a lot of stuff already, so unless it's a book I know they'd love or something really personal, like a photobook of pages of our fun times together, I try to give experiences instead of stuff. AND you can take photos of your dinner and then scrap it!

I did that last year! We went on a trip together and made her a photobook. We'll be planning our next trip tonight, so hopefully I can get her a new scrapbook for her birthday next year.

we will do any of the following: take the other one out for lunch, buy a small bouquet of flowers and a birthday cupcake, buy a bottle of wine. Small tokens of recognition.

My best friend is Dawn (Aussiegirl). I usually buy her a birthday present, just a GC to one of her digistores that she shops. Then for Christmas, I used to buy for her and her whole family---but we bought a house so I can't buy for her whole family any more. She gets a small Christmas present, whether it's another GC or something she really wants. This year for her birthday I bought her a Disney LLR Randy. I'm not sure what I'll do for Christmas, maybe a GC. But yeah, I buy her presents because if she was local to me we'd celebrate in person, but because we have miles and miles between us we have to celebrate with sending presents and what not!

I don't have any, but my sister and I will get together for dinner and that's enough.

Facebook and whatsapp, mostly, Sara. It's kind of hard nowadays, because everyone is busy with their own things. :(
