So many emotions

Wow! Today marks the turning point for me - decision has been made and in just over a week I'm moving away from family and friends to be much, much closer to school (10-15 mins vs 2+ hours) but I'm terribly nervous about this step as its the first time in almost 29 years that I'll be away from home. I know it's the right and best thing to do now but it still scares me (as well as all the cleaning and packing I'll have to do between now and the 25th)

I hope it makes things easier for you and you settle in well, and good luck with all that cleaning and packing yuck!

you can do it !!! it is a huge step my boyfriend has made that step 3 years ago only to be with me , everymonth whe drive 2 hours to stay a weekend with his familly and whe call them a lot

Awww...I'm sure that's so hard but two hours isn't too bad. You're still close enough to visit on the weekends or a day off. Good luck on the move!

I've said to family and friends I'll come up every couple of months depending on costs etc. I've already planned to go up two weeks after I move to celebrate my birthday with friends (also a leaving celebration too) and family

Congrats & good luck! :hugs:

I lived 2 1/2 hours from my family for 10 years. Either my mom drove down or I drove up every 4-6 weeks. Being able to use FaceTime/Skype helped, too.

Best of luck Jennifer! Moving can be scary, but exciting too. A whole new world is opening up for you. Grab it with both hands and make the most of it! What suburb will you be in? I have a sister in Flagstaff and a cousin in St Andrews.

Hamilton East around the Hayes Common area right by the river - halfway between town and Uni

Congratulations on your new place! I'm sure your friends and family will come and visit - or maybe you can meet them at a half way point.

Good luck on the move and I hope that your nerves will be eased. :hugs:

I'm sure you have mixed emotions. Any big change is hard but what an exciting change, it will be a great opportunity for you. Wishing you all the best!

I know how you feel, Jen! The first time I moved it was moving country and I was 15! All the best! I am sure you can do it!

There are always so many mixed emotions with big moves and changes - exciting to be doing those big things for you, but so hard. Wishing you the best!

I'm sure you'll do great Jennifer! Congrats on the big girl move!

I love Hamilton. It's a great town. I know it's a city, but it still has a town feel.

How exciting! And scary. But I am sure you will do great. And to be closer to work will be much better. Commuting takes away so much of our free time.

Congrats on your move. I bet in no time at all you will be all settled in and enjoying your new place!

littlekiwi 06-17-2016 01:34 AM

Thanks girls. I got a bit of bad news yesterday - looks like I'm going to have to get some sort of part time job once I get there as none of my govt support (extra $160 a month) that I applied for has been granted and I have cut down my costs to the bare minimum already

I'm excited for your new adventure; even a new, part time job could turn out to be a blessing! I hope you love your new place, make friends quickly and enjoy being closer to school.

littlekiwi 06-25-2016 01:11 AM
