saving for gallery
ugh. I just can't get this right. I've read through all the various threads on this topic but I still can't get mine to work right. I know at a high level it's re-size, sharpen, and export...but mine keep coming out looking like crap :(
a) what dimensions do you save as? (PPI as well as pixel dimensions?) I can't get the image under 400KB without making it tiny! c) when you export, do you "save as" jpg? or I see now that PS has an export function - which is better and why? Basically...if you guys would share your exact steps for exporting for the gallery I'd really appreciate it!! |
I use PSE so it is probably different. The max file size dimensions are 700X700. A lot of people do 600X600. Do you flatten your image before you save for web? That helps with file size.

Hey Beckie, here are the steps that I take (I'm in PSE 12):
1. Flatten Image 2. Resize image size to 700x700pixels 3. I duplicate my image (the layer) 4. Filter -> Other -> High Pass (radius at 0.3 pixels) 5. Change to Linear Light 6. Flatten 7. Save for Web -> Optimize for File Size 400K That's the way I go about it. :) |

glad it worked! I wasn't sure how to explain what I do hahaha

Thank you guys so much! - one more question...(are you sick of me yet??)
I tried to update the image for one of my LOs now that I have a proper process for web export ;) It doesn't seem like the image is updating though, as the on there is still super blurry. Do I need to just delete it and re-add it as new? (it will bug me endlessly to have this blurry image in my gallery lol!) It's this one |
