Qotd: What's something you tried really hard to like but just couldn't? (11/15)

What's something you tried really hard to like but just couldn't? And why?
It could be a hype, a food, a thing,... anything.

Can't wait to read your answers.

LynnZant 11-15-2017 07:59 AM

Every series that I've tried watching on Netflix. Maybe I'm just not a T.V./movie person any more.

Kiana 11-15-2017 08:12 AM

Pumpkin Pie.

Saar 11-15-2017 08:14 AM

For me, it's bananas.

nietis 11-15-2017 09:06 AM

Learning Mandarin/Chinese. I can speak a bit, but I can't seem to advance. Let alone reading and writing... It really becomes a daily struggle for me, especially since I am living here.

SeattleSheri 11-15-2017 03:16 PM

Olives. I keep thinking I might come around, but I never do, lol. I just don't like them.

Txcorey 11-15-2017 06:36 PM

Wine. Can't really stand it, but I love beer ;0)

KristinCB 11-15-2017 06:37 PM

Digital calendars. I've tried a bunch of different apps and websites, and I love the idea of being able to access my calendar anytime/anywhere and set alarms. But no matter what I've tried, it just doesn't work for me. It's faster and easier to write things in a paper calendar; I can easily see an entire week at one time in paper without longer items or busier days being partially hidden; I can look ahead or back easily, etc.

Me too with coffee. I think that I've tried it three times in my life and just can't do it.

jaye 11-16-2017 10:21 AM

I have a desk calendar at work, for meetings and school happenings etc. I also have an agenda which I have all that plus specific times/periods where I am meeting students. I do put personal stuff in both.

I also have a calendar at home on the fridge, no work stuff unless it is after hours, like parent/teacher interviews, open house.

My phone calendar is basically used when I make an appointment so I don't forget to transfer it to the paper ones :)

my phone.....I'm just not a phone person. I'd much rather do it all from my computer.

DawnMarch 11-16-2017 04:34 PM

Scotch. My hubby loves to sip those fancy Scotches. I think they're nasty.

AmieN1 11-17-2017 01:05 AM

The White Kitchen trend... I agree that they look nice & open, but ALL I can think about is how my kids would RUIN those white cabinets in a heartbeat! ;)

cherrygutz 11-17-2017 02:22 AM

Eating fruits. It's just so so hard...

LeeAndra 11-17-2017 11:06 AM

Coffee. And tea. Blergh.

lovely1m 11-17-2017 12:31 PM

I like most of what you all don't like. lol

Mine is eating meat. I wish I liked it, it would make life a lot easier, but I cannot handle it.

I'm not a fruit eater as well. I only like a few of them.

SeattleSheri 11-17-2017 03:27 PM

See, I'm a total wine and beer person (I always say I'm a 'wedding drinker') ... but I don't ever drink any sort of hard alcohol.

navaja77 11-17-2017 05:01 PM

Coffee. Tried it with cream and sugar. Black. Flavored. They all have that gross aftertaste. I gave up and will stick to my beloved black tea.

Me too!

And for me it is definitely coffee... I've tried it every which way and I just cannot stand the taste, or smell for that matter.

DawnMarch 11-18-2017 08:49 PM

Veggies. I just don't like them. I force myself to eat them every. single. day.

Also some recent books: The Zookeeper's Wife and Amy Schumer's book.

kendallt 11-21-2017 11:13 AM

Spin class! Everyone told me once I got through the initial pain, I'd love it, but I never did. I tried really hard, but eventually I just gave up on it.

oscaralley 11-29-2017 05:12 PM

Cottage cheese....I've tried at least 3 times and I just can't stomach it. I wish I could because it's suppose to be good for you and you can put fruit in it too.

KingsQueen82 11-29-2017 11:07 PM

I'll jump on the coffee bandwagon. HATE it! I've tried so hard, and so many ways, to make it the deliciousness that so many people rave about but alas, I can't stand it. But I do love the smell of it! :D

I'm here to help if you have questions! :D I do think the key to learning any language is to have fun... find a show you like and watch it in that language. That's how I picked up Korean so quickly.

For me it's contacts (tried for 2 years in college but I hated the feeling of having something in my eyes!) and make-up. I will put a little something on if I have to, but I almost never put any make up on.

I don't wear make-up either. I get a rash from almost every product.

scrpprgirl 12-04-2017 10:44 AM

My stepmom lol! She isn't a very nice person :(

karlimarie 12-04-2017 11:41 AM

Knitting! I crochet, but I admire the knit look, I should love knitting, I've tried and tried, but I just can't wrap my head around it. *shrug*

littlekiwi 12-05-2017 11:02 PM

alternative milks and yogurt - I'm lactose intolerant and I'd rather go without a hot drink when I'm out than have soy milk in a hot choc or something. If I really really want a drink sometimes I'll have a trim hot chocolate knowing full well what the consequences might be for me but that only ever happens maybe 1-2 times a year when I will cave for a dairy laden hot drink
