LOL I was going to recommend Stephen White's Alan Gregory series as well. I agree, the last few have not be so great, but as a whole I really enjoy them.

Ariana Franklin's The Mistress of the Art of Death series was really good too...if you also enjoy historical fiction you might enjoy them.

I also like Karen Slaughter's books...just saw today that she has a new one out, so I'm definitely putting that on my toead list. Harlan Coben is another good mystery/thriller author.

The Divergent series by Veronica Roth is good. Ashfall by Mike Mullin was a pretty good read as well, about a teen struggling to survive after the Yellowstone supervolcano erupts.

Right now I'm reading Enclave by Ann Aguirre...I'm loving it so far.
