My son's current favorite author is Suzanne Selfors. I saw her speak at a writer's conference not too long ago, and I picked up some of her books there. My son LOVED every one of them and has breezed through two entire series now: The Imaginary Veterinary series and the Smells Like Dog series. The first is about a pair of kids who work as apprentices for a veterinarian who takes care of magical creatures (dragons, fairies, leprechauns, etc.), and the second is about a boy and his dog who travel the world hunting for treasure. These are fun, hilarious, action-packed books. They remind me a lot of Roald Dahl (who was my son's previous favorite author). I loved reading them together with him.
