As a child, I never believed in Santa. My mom grew up not even knowing about him (her family was Amish) so she didn't do it for us. She would write "from Santa" on one of the gifts but it would sit under the tree for a week or more so I was smart enough to figure it out.

My sister and I both do the Santa thing big... and believe it or not, this is the first year all 3 of my kids have let me know they no longer believe. My kids are 18, 16 and almost 13. I've always told them that if they don't believe, they don't gifts from Santa (because one of my son's teachers told him at 5 there is no Santa and I didn't want him to spoil it for his sisters and he's spent 13 years playing along so that he'll still get a gift). I actually thought my youngest was still a believer until my older kids popped that bubble this year and told me she hasn't believed since she was 6. None of them wanted to hurt my feelings, so they kept it to themselves all these year. I really have great kids.
