I agree with those that said that it depends on what pictures you need to scrap. You might also want to consider what kits you already have so that you can mix and match.
As for the explosion box, I personally bought the triangle though you might want to consider how many pictures you want on your box. The ones with more sides could hold more smaller pictures while you could put bigger pictures on the ones with less sides. Also, you might want to look at the kits used on the pre-designed ones as that could save a lot of time!
