I do think the key to learning any language is to have fun... find a show you like and watch it in that language. That's how I picked up Korean so quickly.
For me it's contacts (tried for 2 years in college but I hated the feeling of having something in my eyes!) and make-up. I will put a little something on if I have to, but I almost never put any make up on.
