If it helps, I misspoke, lol. My tamron is a fixed aperture zoom, not a prime. I do love primes though, lol!

Prime = only 1 focal length (like a 50mm, or 35mm, or 85mm)

Fixed aperature = any focal length will be able to shoot at that aperature (so my 28-75 f/2.8 is a zoom that can shoot at f/2.8 anywhere in that range of focal lengths)

Variable aperature = different focal lengths have different wide open aperatures. For the lens you linked to, you would be able to shoot at f/3.5 at 28mm, but only at f/5.6 at 80mm. That's a BIG difference.
