Default Silhouette alignment

So, I've had my silhouette for almost a year now (and the investment was totally worth it for me), but I've stopped using the print and cut feature because I couldn't get the machine to align the cuts close enough with the prints.

I invented my own method of omitting the registration marks (also gives me more space on the paper to work with; I can place things closer to the edges on all 4 sides of the paper). Now I print 3 additional small dots on every sheet of paper and then manually align my page (which sounds tedious but really doesn't take that much extra time for me, coz by now I have a pretty good idea of how my printer and silhouette work together), but my question is:

Does anyone have a good tutorial on aligning your machine? I found one tutorial that doesn't explain things well enough for me to get it, and I'm afraid of messing up my machine's alignments more than helping things. So, if you can point me to some good tutorials on aligning the silhouette cameo, I'll be all ears!
