Default Nikon Coolpix or Panasonic Lumix?

I've been doing tons of research on the best point and shoot digital cameras out there (within our budget of $250) and these two cameras have great reviews just about everywhere I look.

I have narrowed it down to either the Nikon Coolpix L120 or the Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS7. I would love some input if anyone here has owned/owns one of these! TIA!!

I HATED the coolpix we bought and traded it in for a Canon PowerShot. I'm a Canon girl through and through, I've had the powershot, rebel and now the 7D and I'll never pick another brand because I'm always let down, so I would say neither! LOL Buy a powershot!

well... I'm a Nikon girl through and through... but ONLY for dSLR cameras...

I've heard good things about the Panasonic Lumix cameras... and yeah... I'd buy a Canon PowerShot for a P&S.

I have a Panasonic Lumix and it's fantastic. I've changed from being a Canon girl through and through to now being a Lumix girl . I am so impressed with mine that I just bought a Lumix for my classroom camera at school

I have bought a coolpix recently and the quality is rather sh*t!
I have no money to buy a new one now.....I just wanted a point and shoot in my purse for fun moments where I don't have my DSLR....

But I really hate the camera....I can't seem to find anything in the menu and I can't get the quality better.

I have a Canon Powershot SD 1300IS and its just ok. Its the camera that I put in my purse when Im not carrying my DRebel. My husband had a Canon PowerShot SX130IS and it was an awesome camera! Until he left it on top of the car in a parking garage in New Orleans. Yeah- someone just got a really nice camera there. You can get that one for around $200. I was taking pictures with it and was super impressed with the speed and quality of pictures.

I have a canon powershot SD1300IS... like Amber, It's okay. I really liked it better than the Olympus I had, that this canon replaced a year ago... but now the photos aren't as good as it was... but then I have a 4 year old who LOVES taking photos... so I'm sure it has been dropped a few times without me being aware of it... I was looking at the Lumix for the next go around...

We made the mistake of buying a Sony when we got our new point and shoot digital camera at Christmas. We have a Sony camcorder that works great and the point and shoot looked like it had some great features.

We'd always had Powershot cameras before and I sure wish we'd gone that route this time. Our Sony stopped working on manual mode after just a few months. Our Canon Powershot cameras have always worked great! We'll get the Sony camera fixed since it is still under warranty, but I wish we'd gotten a Canon.

Ultimately, we're just going to have to spend the money and get a dSLR though.

I don't have either....but did have to replace my p&s recently, so I researched them all, lol. I didn't really like the Nikon when I tried it out, but the the Lumix did seem like a nice camera. I ended up with a powershot though. So far I love it, it's great at keeping up with moving kids, and has produced some great night time shots. It's an Ixus 220 hs - but I'm pretty sure it's branded as something else in the US because it took me a while to find reviews of it. I'll be back when I find out what the alternate name is

ETA: it's an Elph 300 hs

I loved Nikon for my DSLR, but I have a Canon for my P&S. Mine is PowerShot G10 and I'm very happy with it. But that one is on a pricey side.

I have the Lumix, and I like it. It's my second Lumix, and I've taken some really great shots with both of them. I use the intelligent Auto most of the time, and it's really good for a p&s.
