Default What should I watch next?

So, DH and I are finishing up watching Breaking Bad on Netflix streaming and we need another series to watch. Any good suggestions?

Just to give you an idea of what we like... The walking dead, dexter, Grey's anatomy, bones, pushing daisies, mad men, the mentalist...

I started watching Dr. Who tonight and despite my best efforts I can't get into it. Help! I need a new tv show to veg out to! Lol.

Oh man, you sound just like me! Have you watched Burn Notice? I just finished what they had on Netflix of it.

Burn notice... Hmmm... I think I've watched that. The guy looks familiar. I might have caught the pilot when it first aired on tv. I'll have to check it out! Thanks for the help!

Which season of Dr. Who? Netflix has the old and new series. I like the second through fourth seasons of the new series best. It will make more sense if you watch the first season with Christopher Eccleston, but it definitely picks up once David Tennant takes over in the second season.

Oh you're like us! We jump from one series to the next on Netflix. We cover all different genres, but we love to watch them start to finish. A few that we've watched:

Eureka (this is one of our faves, but we're waiting for them to put the final season up)
Heroes
24 (one of our all-time faves)
Army Wives
Psych
Friday Night LIghts
Desperate Housewives (I actually only made dh watch the last 2 seasons with me. LOL)
Monk
How I Met Your Mother
30 Rock (we sometimes like easy 30 min sitcoms to fill in the gaps)

Some things on our "to watch" list:
Breaking Bad (I know you said you just finished it)
Prison Break
Revenge
Jericho
Burn Notice (I used to watch this on tv but got rid of cable after 2 seasons)
Arrested Development

Let's see... We like How I Met Your Mother, Sherlock, Weeds (mostly DH), Eureka, Warehouse 13, West Wing, White Collar, Psych, Burn Notice, Supernatural, and Vampire Diaries. We loved Dr. Who but we are serious nerds. We started watching Terra Nova but it was cancelled after one season.

Oh, 30 rock cracks me up! Love those suggestions, Libby. Lets see, the Dr. who I started watching was from 2005 some mannequins coming to life. LOL.

HA! Ok, I'll hush up. I'll just say that I found season 1 a little slow in spots, but I think it gets better with season 2+. We watched it all in record time. LOL

Oh yeah! Lost is also on our list. I watched the first couple of seasons when it was on tv, but I hated having to wait for new episodes.

Another that Jeff's sister recommended is Damages. We haven't watched it yet, but it's on our queue.

'Drop Dead Diva' is my guilty pleasure. Seasons 1 - 3 are on Netflix, so you'll have to find 4 online.

It's abt a fat gurl + the character Fred is so dreamy... *swoon*

Oh yes, Damages is GREAT!

Here's a few that I don't see above:
The Guardian
The Tudors
Downton Abbey
White Collar (haven't finished yet)
NUMB3RS (not quite done)

I'm currently watching 'Revenge'. Took me a couple of episodes to get into it but now I like it!
I've also started watching Weeds (S1) and I like it too.

Some other of my alltime favorites:
True Blood
Prison Break (the suspense!)
Heroes
Jericho, only too bad there never was a second season

ETA: Also really loved 'V'.

Just going to put in a word (or a few) for Doctor Who. If you find the first season too cheesy, I'd skip to Season 2 (with David Tennant as the Doctor) and watch a few episodes. Tennant is great. If you're still not sure, skip to Season 5 when Steven Moffat writes a lot more and Matt Smith is the new doctor. It's a lot slicker, less cheesy and charmingly geeky.

Ok, so I guess I was watching season 1, episode 1, titled "Rose". Woah it was cheesy alright... and very very strange. But, keep in mind I have never watched any Dr. Who before, not even the oldies so I have NO IDEA what it's about. Time travel I'm guessing? I was definitely confused. LOL! David Tennant was the Dr. in that episode.

We stumbled over it on the British TV over christmas, while we were visiting family. I like it. Especially because I love muder mysteries and the Bf and me are always debating our theories.

Season one has Christopher Eccleston as the doctor. He was great, but I know that the earlier seasons, especially season 1, are pretty cheesy. In my opinion, the plots get better with each season. I'd recommend starting with Season 2 if Season 1 isn't floating your boat. "The Christmas Invasion" is the first episode of Season; it's right after the doctor regenerates, so that's the first episode with David Tennant. If you can make it through Season two to get to the 5th episode ("The Girl in the Fireplace") that one is great. It's the one that got me hooked on the show.
And yes, it's a bit confusing, but I started with the new Season 1 with Eccleston and have watched all of the new seasons now and it's probably my favorite show. Along with Sherlock.

That's the first episode of the new series and Christopher Eccleston is the Doctor in that season. David Tennant takes over in the second season. And yes, it does involve Time Travel. The Doctor is a sort of tragic hero throughout the series and one of the themes is the effect that interacting with him has on the other characters and their families. It took me a while to get interested in the show, but it is very good. He has companions, but he's not necessarily romantically involved with them. They are often female, but not necessarily so, and always clever in some way although that may not always be recognized by their family, friends or society. They are not simple "sidekicks." Once I figured that out, I enjoyed the show a lot more!

Huh, wikipedia has it wrong, then. I thought I was watching David Tennant. Ok, then, I will give it a second chance and skip ahead to season 2. I have heard so many people who love the show. I really wanted to give it a fair chance.

I actually started watching when I saw an episode in the third season that my husband was watching that I really liked. ("Human Nature" and "Family of Blood." They were a two-part show. I think these two episodes were a great introduction for me because I really didn't necessarily need to know much about the Doctor to get caught up in this story, which was just brilliantly written.) After that, I realized that I ought to be watching too and went back and started watching from Season 1. I like Christopher Eccleston, but David Tennant clearly had more energy for the role than his predecessor, and the episodes in 2-4 are really outstanding. I like the 11th Doctor too, but I'm definitely a fan of 10.

Brook, another HUGE Dr. Who fan here. I actually started in Season 5 with Matt Smith and went BACK to season 1 to see things from the beginning.

Season 1 was just barely bearable as a fan, Season 2 gets much much better! Stick with it if you can <3
