Default Designer Call 2007: The Application

Hey ladies!!

We are sooo excited that you've seen our ad around town and are here looking for details on how to apply to be a member of the Sweet Shoppe team! We wanted to begin by giving you an idea of what we are specifically looking for from designers who apply so let's kick things off with that...

First and foremost, Sweet Shoppe Designs requires exclusivity from our designers. We pride ourselves on having an amazing team committed to making the Sweet Shoppe the best it can be and are looking for people who want to help us make that happen. We think it's an amazing asset to a site to have products which can't be found anywhere else and believe that it helps our designers really focus on growing their business in the place they call home.

Keeping this ideal in mind, applicants should be REALLY excited about wanting to design for SSD because if invited to join our team, you'll need to resign from your current position at any competing consignment stores and make SSD the exclusive home of your designs. The only exception to exclusivity is that our designers ARE welcome to own their own solo stores where they sell their designs and their designs alone.

We believe our team is comprised of some of the best in the industry and are looking for talented designers who believe they have something special to offer our customer base. Quality and style is of the utmost importance to us and whether you have been designing for 3 years or 3 months, if you feel you can offer our customers impeccable quality and style through your designs, we want to hear from you!

Finally, making a home at a site means becoming part of a family - between our existing team of designers, our incredible SugarBabes and our fabulous customer base, we believe we have something very special here at Sweet Shoppe Designs and want to bring fresh faces onboard who are excited about jumping in and being active in our community.

If you think all of the above is for you, read on for the details on how to apply to be a member of the Sweet Shoppe team of designers.

Please send an email to admin@sweetshoppedesigns.com with ALL of the following information:

Applicant Questionaire (copy and paste to your email):

1) Name:
2) Contact Email Address:
3) A brief description of your digital scrapbooking and design history & experience. If you're new to the industry, tell us what made you decide to begin designing and why you feel your work is special.
4) Why do you want to be a designer at Sweet Shoppe Designs?
5) How often do you create new products?
6) Other information you'd like us to consider...

Design Samples:

1) Link(s) to your designs for sale in your current home.
2) Link to a creative team gallery where we can see your designs in action on layouts.
3) At least two of your existing kits repackaged in the Sweet Shoppe preview format. As you know, the Sweet Shoppe uses a uniform preview in our store and we'd like to see how your products look in our format. You can download our preview template here. Please save for web at 500x500 and attach to your email.
4) A link to a .zip which contains full resolution 300 dpi samples of some of your favorite work. Please include a couple of papers, a handful of unique, well executed embellishments and if you extract from scans, please send a sample of your extraction work as well.

And that's it... (LOL - we know it's a lot, but we really believe it will help us choose the designers who will be the best fit for our site). We can't WAIT to hear from you and are really looking forward to getting to know more about the talent out there in the community!

All applicants will be sent a note letting you know we've received your application within 12 hours of receipt. Applicants we are seriously considering may be asked to complete up to two small special projects so we can get a feel for how you would work with some of the projects the Sweet Shoppe is known for.

Applications will be accepted from Friday, April 6th through Sunday, April 15th with our newest designers being announced April 28th and debuting in our famous Sweet Shoppe Quarterly Assortment Saturday, May 5th.

This is a VERY exciting process that doesnt happen often around here and all of us want to wish you the very best should you decide to apply!

Good Luck!
Robin
