Well, the primary colors in the cub scout uniform is navy blue and gold. There is a Tiger den, a Wolf den, a Bear dear, and a Webelos den. I would like a kit with maybe an American flag, paw prints, word art for the different dens. There is also a Pinewood Derby race, Day Camp with activities like archery, BB gun shooting, etc. I will be back in a sec with a few photos I have of my son.

This is my son as a "Bear"...the colors of the neckerchief change depending on the den that they are in.

awww he's so cute Jenny!!

This is the problem I'm having, all the different branches and dens and such of the boy/girl scouts makes it hard to have an all encompassing kit!

Here is a link that gives an overview of Cub Scouts:

http://www.doubleknot.com/openroster...5749&orgkey=62

I don't have much experience with Girl Scouts other than buying cookies from them every year

Ya, I can see how that would be hard. Maybe you just need to make two - one for each (ha-ha)! Easy for me to say...

If I remember correctly, Cub Scouts is for the youngest members and Boy Scouts take over at a certain age. Kind of like how Brownies are the younger version of Girl Scouts. There are also Daisy Scouts (I don't know really anything about them).
I used to be a Girl Scout (nearly 30 years ago) and my cousin's children are Girl Scouts. Generally the color is green for Girl Scouts, but Brownies are a nice chocolate brown (go figure, lol). The green colors are not kelly green but slightly more sage-y/mossy and are usually in a light and darker colors. As Girl Scouts go into the teenage years, though, the uniform becomes tan (I never got that far). The uniform consists of a vest and a sash (I still have my sash). The sash is covered not only with the troop number (a patch or series of number patches), but also any earned badges. Of course the cookie selling badge has been and still is one of the most popular badges to get. In my day we had arts & crafts badges, cooking badges, camping badges, etc. all of which we had to earn by doing the activity for a certain period. Now they have environmental awareness, nutrition, etc. badges as well as ones similar to the ones I grew up with, but you can also now purchase interest or participation patches that are not earned. The girl scout badges are usually circular with the darker ring of green on the outer edge of the badge. Below are pics of my sash (front and back) and one of the badges (the cookie one). They are different now, but not so significantly that you can't get the idea or use the colors.

Hope that helps!

OMGosh, this would be so great!!!

I have a Cub Scout 'graduating' to Boy Scouts in March and also have soooo many cub scout pics to scrap.

Here are some links to clip art for Cub Scouts/Boy Scouts. http://clipart.usscouts.org/library/

The Boy Scout Law would be great to have: http://scoutmaster.org/usscouts/boyscouts/bslaw.asp

It will be the 100 Anniversary of Scouting in the US in 2010! Lots of things going on with that!

Boy Scout Oath or Promise

On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Boy Scout Law

A Scout is:

* Trustworthy,
* Loyal,
* Helpful,
* Friendly,
* Courteous,
* Kind,
* Obedient,
* Cheerful,
* Thrifty,
* Brave,
* Clean,
* and Reverent.

Boy Scout Motto: Be Prepared!
Cub Scout Motto: Do Your Best!
Boy Scout Slogan: Do a Good Turn Daily!

The Outdoor Code

As an American, I will do my best to -

* Be clean in my outdoor manners
* Be careful with fire
* Be considerate in the outdoors, and
* Be conservation minded.

Then there are the 'other's of us in Royal Ambassadors - which is the Baptist variant on Scouting - there's a Girls in Action (GA's) that's the girl version.

We do a lot of the same activities, but we have an extra focus on missions work around the world.

My 2 cents...they should be separate kits...Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts...and Girl Scouts (not sure if there is enough for 2 kits there...I have all boys)

Cub Scouts: (in a nut shell)
1st grade starts Tiger Cubs...each grade level they move up another level...

5th grade they cross over to Boy Scouts...from then on out they are Boy Scouts

Traci...how many pictures do you want to see? I have 6 GB of Scouting pictures!!!

We started in Cub and Boy Scouts when my oldest son was in first grade...and he is going to be 21 years old next month!!! We are still involved as my youngest is a STAR Scout in Boy Scouts and hopefully will be getting his LIFE badge tonight.

My oldest is an EAGLE Scout...

Please feel free to ask me any questions you might want...PM and I will give you my e-mail addy and can share whatever you want to know!

I was a Den Leader...my oldest was the Den Chief of his youngest brother's den. My husband was Committee Chair...and then Cub Master....then when the youngest crossed over to Boy Scouts became one of the assistant Scout Masters.

...so whatcha want to know? lol

I know from a lady in the scrapbooking world she tried to make a book/flyer on scrapping Scout pictures...the Girl Scouts gave her a lot of trouble and would not give her permission to print anything about the Girl Scouts (even pictures of scrapped layouts) in her book! ...so be sure to watch what you use...

She told me the Boy Scouts were fine with her putting scrapped layouts in her book...in fact one of mine were published in her 2nd book. ...but the new book specifically for Scout scrapping never materialized due to the GS resistance of it.

Just want you to be sure to watch...maybe they have eased up on restrictions...but I don't know...

I would assume it's like any character things... with copyrights and such. You probably can't use actual images, but I'm sure you can use any phrases/wording, colors, etcs... enough things to resemble without actually stealing the image. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would think that it would be the same kind of thing!

I would love a Girl Scout type kit. I would love to have a variety of "badges" and understand that they can't be the same designs.

Traci -

I have both a brownie and cadette scout and knowing how the GS is with their images, the things I would want ie try-its, interest project patches and such would probably be off limits but......the girls do many different type of projects through out the year that you could do things around:

Here are the girl scout levels quickly:

Daisies - kindergarten/1st
  • colors: royal blue and white
  • earns little petals that represent various part of the Girl Scout promise
  • some outings that my girls have done: pumpkin patch, library, fire station, lots of crafts, teddy bear teas
Brownies - 2nd/3rd
  • colors: brown and light blue
  • earns Try-its for different activities such as "Friends are Fun"; "Earth is Our Home" "Manners" and so on. There are 58 of them but all have various aspects that encourage the girls to learn about themselves and their community
  • some outings we have done: trip to Sea World, Camping, making smores', Christmas parades, community service, selling cookies, songs, crafts, friendship bracelets, visits to farms, apple picking
Juniors - 4th/5th
  • colors: green
  • earn badges for different activities as well
  • some outings we have done: walked the Golden Gate Bridge, camping at a horse ranch, camping at the beach, community service, cookie sales, teaching the little ones
  • they also can earn the Bronze Award - the 3rd highest award in Girl Scouts
Cadettes - 6th, 7th, and 8th
Seniors - 9th and 10th

Ambassadors - 11th and 12th
  • colors: khaki and navy blue for all three
  • not many of these girls but they all earn Interest Project Patches for various activities that they complete and for a time being before it is eventually phased out they can earn charms by completing activities from the Studio 2b's series.
  • There is a website that kind of sums up the 2b's stuff to get you ideas here: http://www.studio2b.org/
  • Cadettes can earn the Silver Award - 2nd highest award for Girl Scouts and Seniors/Ambassadors can earn their Gold Award - equivalent to the Eagle Scout award
Here is the Girl Scout Promise and Law for ideas:

The Girl Scout Promise
On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

The Girl Scout Law
I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.

I hope these kind of help but if you need more info, pm me - I am a troop leader for both my girls and have been in scouts for quite some time. I have websites for both troops that you can peek at it too. I looked back in my gallery and sadly I have no layouts of any of my girls' time in scouting.

For the daisies portion, you could do a flower like their patches.

It has a blue center, and then the petals are light blue, yellow, lime green, red, orange, purple, hot pink, green, light pink and then kind of a magentaey light purple color. The petals can go in any order around the blue center.. and the center is more of a square shape than round. HTH

Also for both the GS and the BS kit.. I would do numbers.. like the troop number patches. They are rectangles of various colors with the numbers stitched in white.

I would love a cub scouts kit! My first son is in his first year of cubs, but he has 2 younger brothers. So I will be scrapping cub scouts for a while.

Here is my oldest with his cub scout shirt on:

It was made but it has already retired. You can PM Traci and she might be able to do a private sale. The kits were called He's a Leader and She's a Leader

Hopefully I'm not to late to weigh in here, but I would love if you could add some Eagle stuff into your kit. My nephew received his a few months ago and I was in charge making his announcements. It was IMPOSSIBLE to find any good quality kits. I reverted to using a bunch of 4th of July kits. I've still got his whole Eagle Project and Ceremony to scrap and as I said I can't find anything to scrap it with. Can't wait to see what you come up with!

I am thrilled you are doing this Traci! My kids are not in scouts but scouting was a huge part of my Dad's life. I'm going back through his childhood pix and making him a book.

What month do you think this will be available? ( Not to rush you or anything!)
