That's when you visit and grab all the pie-pumpkins you can and make your own puree It's what I'm doing. I still have cans left over from last year when my MIL bought me a case, and I'm thankful to have it, but want to build up my freezer stash of fresh puree as well this year. It's pretty easy to do.

I do like Darcy & keep fresh puree in the freezer.

I'm pretty sure I've seen canned here all year round though.

I feel your pain!!! I was planning on making pumpkin bread on Saturday to take to our local police briefing for the very hard working officers (who've been dealing with fires here). Completely forgetting about the national-wide shortage last winter, I was blankly staring at the spot where I usually find canned pumpkin at my grocery store. A helpful stocker asked if he could help - laughed at my request, said they hadn't had any since Christmas, and that people are selling canned pumpkin on eBay, so if they got any in he'd have to put it up for auction! LOL!

I was wanting to make this recipe and was super sad when I realized our Kroger (which is a HUGE Kroger) didn't have them. The lady I spoke with mentioned the shortage. I was going to give up when I saw Wal-Mart's shelf was empty too, but then I saw two little cans of organic pumpkin puree in the back and I snagged them!

OMG that is crazy they are selling it on eBay!!! I just checked and some people are asking like $6 bucks a can!!! I love pumpkin as much as the next person but not enough to pay that for it!!! I'd grow my own before I paid that!!!

I work at Kroger, and we are supposed to be getting it in soon. The grocery manager has already told me she'd put a case aside for me when it comes in, hehe!
