New FB Page Cover Image Rules

I posted this on FB, but for those of you who aren't my friend.

A lot of you have FB pages so you might find this interesting. FB has quietly changed their rules on what you can have in your cover photo:


What we still need to adhere to:
*Covers may not include images with more than 20% text.

What is now NO longer in the guidelines:
Covers may not include:
* price or purchase information, such as "40% off" or "Download it on socialmusic.com";
* contact information such as a website address, email, mailing address, or information that should go in your Page's "About" section;
* references to Facebook features or actions, such as "Like" or "Share" or an arrow pointing from the cover photo to any of these features; or
* calls to action, such as "Get it now" or "Tell your friends."

There is now only one requirement - "All covers are public. This means that anyone who visits your Page will be able to see your cover. Covers can’t be deceptive, misleading, or infringe on anyone else’s copyright. You may not encourage people to upload your cover to their personal timelines. Covers may not include images with more than 20% text."

That doesn't really affect me at all. Is it a big deal for other people?

That's what I was wondering too.

I think it's more of a big deal for the designers.. before they couldn't put "available at sweet shoppe designs" or their store link on the fb covers and now they can.

I was just thinking the same thing. I assumed all cover photos were public anyway - they just can't see the rest of your info/feed if they're not friends.

Exactly. It's for Facebook Pages, not for personal Facebook timelines. So it would affect anyone who owns or admins a Page (designers and SSD for starters).
