Default U-Pick Fruits & Veggies

We are going strawberry picking this week. For some reason, I am really into U-Pick (picking your own in the patch/orchard vs. buying them at the store), and we do strawberries & apples every year. This year, we will probably do blueberries, too, as Mister Moose loves them and there is precious little he will eat every single time you offer it to him.

Anyone else love U-Pick? Is U-Pick common in other countries?

Last year (when OH passed his driving test) we found a lovely strawberry field around 15 miles for us and we went, the strawberries were amazing! We did go OTT and got around 3kg of them though lol.

We're going back in a week or 2 when they open again!

We have a great place that does all these: Strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, peaches, apples, squash, pumpkins, cukes, peas, green beans.

I live in the wild blueberry capital of the world so we have those little gems at our disposal starting in mid July. I used to rake my own or hand pick but those I do buy from a place where you can buy them by the pound - I usually get 25 to 50 pounds and freeze them for the year.

I don't think we have anything close to us but wouldn't mind going. Not sure how my back would like it if I had to do hours of bending over though.

There's no place close enough for us to do it routinely, but we go blueberry picking once every summer and apple picking once in the fall. I may try to go once or twice more with the kids this summer for corn and peaches, too.

I don't think we have anything like that around us. Even living in the Central Valley...aka Ag everywhere. I might have to look into that some more.

There are more farms around here that have Upick fields and orchards than I can keep track of. We don't always get to go pick for ourselves but I do make sure to stop by their stands to stock up on things as they come into season. We are still a few weeks away from the Strawberry u-picks to open up and they are the first ones.

We are planning to go picking in a few weeks. I'm wanting peaches and blackberries. We do have a few peach trees in the back yard...one has probably a hundred peaches on it, but I keep having to thin them out so that the limbs don't break. And I might have to go for cucumbers this year as I've started canning pickles.

We pick strawberries and apples every year. We always have a blast doing it too.

There's a farm/garden near us that normally does all the different fruits and veggies throughout the year. You can either pick your own or buy the bushels that are already picked by them. I am all about farmer's markets and buying local when I can.

I go cherry picking every year. If it's the right time, also stop by the farm for strawberry picking. My dad's backyard had 26 fruits growing, so I didn't care for any other fruits, but same area offers all other fruits too!

There was a huge farm near us for vegetable u-pick, but 10 years ago, housing development bought the land and that was the end of it! I loved going there for vegetables.
