Default I'm completely dumb to what

Silhouettes do, so I need to ask this, can it print like anything? Like I can download a kit from here and then print/cut the elements out with it? Or does it work like the Cricut, where you need the pack things? My MIL has a cricut.

nope, you can print and then cut just about anything. you can also buy files from the Silhouette site. I don't have one yet, but I'm waiting for mine to arrive

yeah from what I understand, you can print and cut anything! The software studio for it is free via the website. And there are special shapes you can purchase from their store, but there are no cartridges! I'm buttering up my husband so I can buy one someday soon...since I can't seem to win one!

I'm guessing I have entered at least 30 giveaways before I finally won one. I never win anything so this made my week

So I could basically cut all the elements out from a digi kit to do something hybrid with?

yes, with the print and cut function. I think you just have to trace things. Traci Reed has one as does Alisa Jodi and Heather Greenwood- I know they do tons with theirs

looooooooove my silhouette! you can trace any digi file and print/cut it out. I did it with some brushes I made of my own handwriting here (bottom left):

Keep in mind that the Silhouette doesn't do the actual printing. You will still need a printer for that, but it will cut pretty much anything you tell it to.

Oh, ok. I didn't know that. That's good to know too.

I have one too... but I don't use it... I have a love affair with my scissors... Mari is trying very hard to get me to dust it off and give it ago... hahaha

Our very own Mari has tutorials... might help you see it "in action"...

So... where are those blogs where you can win one? LOL

I have this on my list. I think it might be doable by Christmas. My husband wanted to get me one for my birthday next week but I told him to hold off. We have a plan to be debt free by November and I'm not going to let a splurge on a toy derail us. Gotta keep plugging away. Two bills to go, then I can get one!

They do give an educational discount for teachers and such. I'm going to email and chat with them about my position at school and see if I can get the discount. If not, I'll have one of my teacher friends order it for me.

I love Zulily... must stay away from there. I spent too much at Christmas time there. Of course I also got a lot of free stuff from them too thanks to Wrapp gift cards.

yeah, I have the Portrait and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! I rarely use my scissors anymore and am hoping to finish up a mini album I've been working on and most of it was cut with the Silhouette, including the photos and the tape and ephemera from the kits
