What's your favorite Christmas tradition?
And why?

Christmas Cards.

We usually send out around 120 (with letters included) and get back around 60ish. I love them because they make me feel connected to friends and family around the world.

Wow, that's a lot!
But I agree... it's a lovely Christmas tradition.

Besides the Sister's Gifts I mentioned before, we like to make different gingerbread houses each year. Sometimes it's traditional, one year we made mini cabins, the next was a big giant foam one that sang, another year it was a pretzel log cabin, this year it'll be a gingerbread train.. you get the idea.

hmm... hard to pick - doing our Around the World Christmas... we learn about different Christmas traditions in other countries... celebrate St. Nick's Day, St. Lucia's Day, etc.

I love Christmas time so it is hard to choose only one Christmas tradition but I'll answer that I love helping my kids doing their letter to Santa. I know that they won't believe in this wonderful fable forever so it's important to me to see them really happy doing it!
I also say that I love some traditional Christmas food!
What about you Sarah?

Cookies! I remember doing the sugar cookies with my family only once when I was little, so it's important for me to do them with my girls every year.

Mine is trimming the tree. Nothing beats that!
I put up the tree in my own home, at my parents' house, my grandparents (my moms' mom and dad) and my uncle (my moms' brother).

Boxing Day is a messy hair don't care day, where we kick back, relax and play games all day. Food consists of appetizers/finger foods, no big meal and we kind of just munch throughout the day. It is also the start of the World Juniors Hockey tournament and our world stops while we watch team Canada play their games.

Every year, my mom, sister, daughter, and I have a girls' shopping day. My daughter and I spend the night at my mom's, and the next day, we have our annual Holiday Bake-a-thon where we make Christmas cookies and all kinds of festive sweet treats.

My son's advent calendar. It has became a life of its own over the years. He looks forward to it every December!

When I was young, our family (with my aunts and grandma and cousins) will wake up at exactly 12am of the 25th to open our presents, then take lots of pictures before we eat our hearty Noche Buena. Then we will open our socks with some more small gifts. Then the adults will let us stay up until 4am to check our new gifts some more. When I got married, I brought that tradition to my own family and we love it. But I added a little twist on that. Before we sleep we will always lay games (jenga, board games). You know, to contain the excitement of my daughter as to not open her presents yet. And we exchange gifts (just the 3 of us).
