Default Rainbow Rowell

is my absolute favorite new author. I have devoured her first 3 books and I'm just about to finish up her new one Landline. She has so far written 2 YA novels and 2 Adult novels. But her YA really don't read like YA to me. Honestly I think she's the perfect author for my generation who were in their 20's in the 90's and are now approaching 40 (or are already there ahem ) Anyway...she's awesome. Fangirl was fantastic, Attachments was probably my favorite (because Lincoln right?) of the 4 and right now Eleanor and Park is only 5.00 for Kindle!!

It looks like Fangirl has dropped to 5.00 right now too. If you are an introvert with social anxiety and love Harry Potter you will LOVE Fangirl lol

I bought them. Would they be good for me to recommend to my teen girls (14 and 18)?

Fangirl and E&P have some curse words but they are targeted at YA so I think they should be fine. Fangirl is set in the present day and E&P is set in the mid 80's.

I think Attachments would be okay for 18+ and Landline is about a married couple so not sure if that would interest them.

Ditto. Eleanor & Park had been on my radar for a while, so the good price on the Kindle book pushed me over the edge. Glad to hear a good review from you, Nikki. Now, I just need to find more time to read.

XTC, Skinny Puppy & Joy Division.... seriously. with music references like these, including a super sweet shout out to Henry Rollins, how could someone not love this book??! I started Eleanor & Park last night and ended up completely lost in it all until about 5am this morning. So I'm both cursing and thanking you this morning, Nikki!!

Here's a link to Rainbow Rowell's blog post where she talks about the music that influenced E&P...her books are full of pop culture references like these. Love it!

Ok, I've gotta say... I've read both Eleanor and Park and Fan Girl and I HATE the way she ends her books! Hate Hate Hate! I did really like Eleanor and Park and mostly liked Fan Girl, but I think I'm not a fan of how weak and insecure she writes her female characters. I loved Eleanor more than Cather but all the hubbub about taking forever to kiss and being AFRAID of being touched/kissed doesn't ring true to me, even for teenage girls.

I actually agree with you Traci, my girls and I all read Eleanor and Park together and ALLLL of us hated the way that book ended. I get the point she was trying to make, but it was a pretty lame ending : /
