Default is there an action for that?

I primarily use my cellphone for my photos. I email them to myself (phone only lets me do it 5 photo at a time) at actual size or I bulk upload them to snap fish and then bulk download them to my computer so I can do them 50 at a time.

When I pull the photos up in PSE, they are generally gigantic (like 15"-34" wide and at 72dpi)
so then I go back and resize them to 300dpi, and 5x7 or 8x10 or something more manageable.

Do you know of an action that resizes them to a normal photo size and 300dpi?

I don't know what type of machine you have (PC or Mac) or type of phone, but I would probably look into a solution which would provide an easier way to transfer your photos to your computer so you don't have to bother with a conversion. If that's not possible, simply placing your unconverted photos onto your canvas set at 300 DPI within your program will automatically convert them for you (the raw number of pixels is finite, so the DPI is immaterial). This would eliminate the conversion step for you when you're using photos to scrap with.

It's pretty easy to create actions that resize in batch in PS. I think you mentioned in another thread you use PSE, and I'm not sure if is a feature of that program.

I have sooo much to learn! I am on a macbook pro and have an iPhone 5s.

My previous phone recently crashed and I lost a few hundred photos, things I hadn't got around to sorting and uploading. I'm not even sure what I lost, I think the bulk of it was sorted but not everything. I had tried a few different photo transfer apps when I was using the 4s, snapfish was the easiest and quickest. Other ones would crash mid way or if I got a phone call or text when it was transferring. Some would load, some wouldn't and I would have to go back and reselect. I suppose no matter what I use it's going to take some time.

Now I am starting fresh with a new phone which currently only has like 30 pictures on it. I am hoping I will be able to be more organized and commit more time to smaller batches of sorting and backing up photos. My kids are so young and I take way too many photos, they have so many firsts!

I can also sync the phone to the computer and dump them all into iPhoto, but when I do it that way I have to pull out my cable, block my kids from pulling it out and be there to select the photos or it drops everything in and I need to go back and delete the rejects. Plus my laptop is pretty filled up and storing all the photos (even temporarily) bogged it down. In the past it was easier to dump them on snapfish (plus then they are there for when I want to order prints). Snapfish will hold them for 4 years but then they start disappearing. I didn't realize they did that and lost several years worth of photos. That was heartbreaking.

I second what Sheri said, have you tried setting up Dropbox or Photobucket to auto upload your photos? Plugging in my phone has always been a no-go for me too with little ones around but I find Photobucket works best for me. I have photos from 2003/2004 - present on my PB accounts and it's so much easier knowing they're all backed up automatically for when I'm on my laptop & ready to pull some up for scrapping.

i use photo bucket for some of my uploads, never thought to use it for photos. For backing up I have an EHD and I recently signed up for Crashpad online, although that doesn't look like i can physically GO to crash pad and pull up individual files like I can with snapfish (or photo bucket)? I pictured it to be like an online EHD where i would log into my account and a see previews of all my files but it doesn't seem like crash pad works that way?

How do you automatically upload all your photos to photo bucket, is there an app for that?

Also what is the deal with this dropbox, I have heard of it but never looked into it.

Dropbox is a free service that you install on various devices and you can share files via that.

If you are using an iphone, why are you emailing your photos? Plug your phone into the computer, and copy them over that way. You should also set up icloud to backup your pics so it automatically does it for you.

Yep, what Traci said.. both the Photobucket & Dropbox app work in the same way that whenever you're connected it will upload your photos. Very handy.

I want to do it wirelessly when possible, my kids make it impossible for me to guard my devices and supervise them. Plus when I sync my phone to the laptop they go into iPhoto and I have to move them again since PSE doesn't recognize the file type.

My iCloud is too small, they only give you a small amount (5 gig maybe?) before you have to pay a yearly fee, it's not unlimited. I already have a back up service and an EHD, so I don't really want to invest in more. I think my crash pad is close to 200 gigabytes already ( of course that's not all photos in fact its primarily digital scrapbook kits, templates, actions and styles).

I think what it comes down to is it's just a LOT of photos. I will look at drop box, maybe that will help.

Looks like drop box gives you 2 gig free and photo bucket gives you 10 gigs free (2 when you sign up, 8 more when you DL the phone app). Looks like drop box is a little more user friendly, but photobucket is more generous with storage size. I DLed them both... I'm going to do test drive of each.

I think GoogleDrive has 10 GB, and I suspect it can do whatever DropBox can.

PhotoSync. It's an app for iPhone and then you install software on your computer. It's $2ish. When I'm ready to transfer, I just open PhotoSync on my phone, make sure it's connected to the same wifi as the latop and it will download the photos where I tell it to download them on my computer. It's more reliable than iCloud for me.

I was just coming to second the Dropbox idea. I am going to set my husband's phone up to my Dropbox, too, so that I can get all the vacation photos.
