Default 20 year High School Reunion

Yep that's right...it was the year 1992 and I was graduating from high school. It is unreal to me that it's been 20 years. When people used to tell me back then that time would fly by I was always like "yeah right, whatever". But it's so true. It goes way too fast.

Anyhoo...I was talking with a friend of mine about it and we were trying to list some of the songs that were popular that year. I was certain the no. 1 song of the year was Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana..but according to Wikipedia it was End of the Road by Boys II Men followed closely by Baby Got Back by Sir Mix Alot

Remember that was when CD's were really becoming popular...Boys II Men was actually the very first CD I ever bought. I think I still have it around here somewhere.

So let's take a walk down memory lane...what was the no. 1 song the year you graduated from high school?

1. "Irreplaceable" by Beyoncé
2. "Umbrella" Rihanna and Jay-Z
3. "The Sweet Escape" Gwen Stefani and Akon
4. "Big Girls Don't Cry" Fergie
5. "Buy U a Drank (Shawty Snappin')" T-Pain and Yung Joc

Yeah, most of those songs are pretty annoying. Haha.

I graduated in 2004, and according to Wikipedia, the week I graduated the #1 song was The Reason, by Hoobastank. I honestly didn't recognize a lot of the songs on the list, but I do like that one.

Oh my goodness - 1991:

1. (Everything I Do) I Do It for You, Bryan Adams
2. I Wanna Sex You Up, Color Me Badd
3. Gonna Make You Sweat, C+C Music Factory
4. Rush, Rush, Paula Abdul
5. One More Try, Timmy T
6. Unbelievable, EMF
7. More Than Words, Extreme
8. I Like the Way (The Kissing Game), Hi-Five
9. The First Time, Surface
10. Baby, Baby, Amy Grant

Reading this list just takes me back to my high school dances and the boy I was dating my senior year. Wow. More Than Words was definitely the hit song at the time I graduated. All the boys were learning how to play it on their guitars.

And, yeah, none of us owned ANY CDs. The first CD I remember seeing was the summer after I graduated, when one of my "early adopter" friends brought a few to a party along with a boom box that would play them. My how the times have changed!

Well, I am a 1992 graduate just like you Nikki. We had my high school reunion back in June. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go but I am glad that I did. It was great to see my old friends.

Nikki, we graduated the same year. My 20 year reunion was weekend before last, though it was in Arizona, and I'm stuck in Kansas, so I didn't go. Why they can't have a summer reunion, I just don't know. They like it to coincide with home coming but, gosh, we all have school aged kids now and if you're out of state it makes it hard! My DH's 20 year reunion is next year, he graduated a year after I did.

Lot of memories on this list! I graduated in '93, and the top songs that year were:

1. I Will Always Love You, Whitney Houston [Amazon MP3]
2. Whoomp! (There It Is) [House Mix], Tag Team [Amazon MP3]
3. (I Can't Help) Falling In Love With You, UB40 [Amazon MP3]
4. That's the Way Love Goes, Janet Jackson [Amazon MP3]
5. Freak Me, Silk [Amazon MP3]

I had to go listen to a preview of that last one, but now I know I at least knew them all, even though I didn't love any of them.

Ditto - Class of 94, here... so not looking forward to my class reunion. Of course, we haven't had any yet - no one in my class wanted to go to the 5 or 10. I could careless what anyone is doing - I hated high school.

I think the very first CD I bought back in 1992 was Totally Krossed Out by Kris Kross

I graduated in 1996 and I definitely remember the Macarena being huge back then so I'm not too surprised it was the top song that year!

1. Macarena (Bayside Boys Mix), Los Del Rio
2. One Sweet Day, Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men
3. Because You Loved Me, Celine Dion
4. Nobody Knows, Tony Rich Project
5. Always Be My Baby, Mariah Carey
6. Give Me One Reason, Tracy Chapman
7. Tha Crossroads, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony
8. I Love You Always Forever, Donna Lewis
9. You're Makin' Me High / Let It Flow, Toni Braxton
10. Twisted, Keith Sweat

I graduated in 2003..
The number one song was "This is the night" by Clay Aiken. I don't remember that one. L-U-C-K-I-L-Y! lol A couple weeks later it was "Crazy in Love" by Beyonce, which I do remember (not crazy about it either)

Me too. My skype username is WaterfallChaser because TLC brings back happy memories.
hahaha!

Isn't it funny how music is attached to memories...like even reading through some of your lists I can remember exactly where I was in that point of my life.

Well except for like after the year 2004 when I had children and my playlists started to consist of The Backyardigans and Laurie Berkner lol.
