Share your first layouts!
ahhhhh man. The daily question on the SSD facebook page yesterday has really brought up some memories for me. I'm coming up on 10 years of digital scrapbooking soon..
My Lily was 3 months old when I started scrapbooking and her 10th birthday is this coming weekend. They tell you that the years go by fast but you don't really realize they mean it Anyways If you are willing share your first layout! This is mine.. I remember creating it.. I even remember that it was a scraplift (from a girl who doesn't scrapbook anymore but she had a daughter named lily too) I realize its barely a digital layout lol but that is what was done at the time you know.. before kits were made and there were no stores. Sigh.. insert sappy overdramatic mommy moments here. |

and.. I don't think anyone should be embarrassed about their first pages because 60 years from now you are going to want to look back on all of your pages.. not just the ones that you feel are "good enough" kwim?
If it wasn't for our first layouts we wouldn't be here together having this conversation |

Ok, had to go to my SSB gallery, it is the only place my "first" layout was posted. I have a few others that I posted before but they were basically quickpages. I posted this 2-2-05!
It was for a speed scrap and I "made" the papers LOL. It is saved as a gif (Lord help me!) and for fun the next 6 years around that anniversary date: 2-6-06 (the kit is from Tabitha Reed before she & Lena became Bella Gypsy) 2-5-07 (Does this kit look familiar Robin? LOL Princess Buttercup by Robin Carlton & Christy Lyle) 2-1-08 (Wild Thing by Dani Mogstad and Lauren Grier) 1-31-09 (Hibernation by Libby Weifenbach and Chere) 2-27-10 (I loved her first by Traci Reed) 2-22-11 (Mouse Mania by Julie Billingsley) Last edited by Amber1279; 01-18-2013 at 01:59 PM. |

Unfortunately, I don't think I even HAVE my first pages anymore! (from 2005...) I went to my gallery at DST and this is the oldest one. I think I was trying to see if I could design my own elements, b/c this page is a combo from MIchelle Underwood and some things that I made. Thankfully for the digi-world I decided that it was not a path I should go down. It's ummm, very vivid lol!

These threads scare me, but I'll play along. I don't think this was my actual first layout, but it's the first one I ever posted (at SBB in April 2007). I was pretty proud of myself for that selective coloring. Lol.

haha this was my very first digi page. I was a tried and true paper scrapper for years before I did this. But a website I worked for was doing an article on overcoming your scrapping fears, and I decided to tackle digi. This was the page I did for the article. July 2006

This was the first I posted online at DST that I can find. An earlier gallery I used has since closed so I can't show those. This layout actually looks good compared to my earlier attempts. LOL

Here is my first I could find. I know it is not my very first, but that page is long gone due to a closed site and some corrupted CDs.

This is probably my second layout. The first one I did was for Keira's day care class, they wanted a collage and that's what got me hooked on scrapping, I loved the way it looked all printed. July 23, 2006 is when I posted this page to the shabby shoppe gallery.

Well, my very first are gone into the digital beyond...closed stores and crashed hard drives. These two are my oldest that I can find now, from the same day back in '07.

This was the very first time I ever used digi products - I did it for a friend, so that's not my kiddo.
And this wasn't much later - but it's my first one (that I can think of / find) that I did with my own photo. I even tried to do a shadow on the photo & feet. LOL!! |

My very first layouts from 2004-2005ish I don't even have saved anymore. They are really funny to look at though...
I think this is from late 2005... and this one yikes!

When I first started scrapping my goal was to do baby books for my two sons. This was going to be the title page for Jacob's book. This was scrapped in 2005.
I cringe at my wonderful discovery of beveling. Look at that awesome bevel overlapping on the bottom picture. and the incredible shadow work on the date. Awesome! LOL |

I just have to say... those of you who started digiscrapping later in the game really had it made compared to those of us who had to make our own (very digital looking) papers and elements. LOL
My first digital page here.... December 2004.... can you tell I couldn't figure out how to resize stuff? Before this, I paper scrapped for years. I was itching to scrap this Christmas picture I took of my daughter and a friend pointed me the direction of a free kit so I downloaded it and decided to play. I had NEVER used Photoshop at that point and I just started playing around (PS7) and fumbled my way through it. This one came the next day....

LOL--I recognize a lot of those early kits! Here was my first layout, scrapped in March 2004. Why yes, I did make all of it myself from tools and presets in my program (and an extracted rivet). IIRC, that was back when there were a few designers selling CDs of their products, but most people didn't have high speed internet connections yet so there weren't many (any?) stores selling downloadable kits. We all made our own things and posted them as freebies for others to share and DL. It was a good day when the first digi stores started opening!

I started in '07 but the earliest layout I have in galleries is this one. Maybe I'll dig around my EHD and see if I can find something older. Maybe. (I can't believe Traci didn't ask me on her team right then & there- look at the beautiful way I combine TWO of her kits! Geesh, Traci. LOL )
ETA: Found one! Jan. 07.

Okay, I think this is my first layout ever... made in Memory mixer... May of 2008 - this has never ever been seen by the public before now... Good Lord, do I look young!
I was a paper scrapper for 7 years prior and SWORE I would NEVER go digi... that was 'cheating'... haha, yeah, I think it took me maybe three more months and I was forever hooked and have only done premade paper albums for friends and family...

Oh how fun! I went looking in two peas and I think this is my first it was 2005!!
and this one I made just a few hours later: they are with 2 of Dani's (Design by Dani) earliest kits - we have been friends since before then and when she started designing she totally roped me in to digi scrapping! |
