Default Healthy in 2012 Club: Goals?

I gave us a name No everyone is looking to lose a ton of weight, but we all want to be healthier, so I figured the name works!

I was thinking of doing a check in each week. To begin, what is your goal? Can be a goal for this week, this month, this year. Whatever helps you focus!

My goal is to lose 70 pounds this year. It is a big goal, but I know I can do it! One of my motivator is that I turn 30 this year, and really want to get under 200 pounds.

My plan right now is exercise EVERYDAY. Even if it is only 15 mins. I am counting calories as well. I bought one of those Bodybugg type things, so it is kinda cool to be able to see how many calories I am burning.

Goals:
water - 3L a day
calories - 1000 calorie deficit daily (calories in - calories burned = 1000)
exercise - everyday!

Oooh, I'm also trying to loose some weight this year.

Goals, I'd love to loose 70 pounds this year, but I'd be happy with 40 to start with.
Workout more often and I'm going to start weight watchers this week again online.

I'm ok with my weight (lost about 40lbs last year on WW) but I want to get back to going to the gym and toning up at least 3-4 times a week and still tracking my points to continue maintaining. I look bigger at the same weight than I did 3 months ago just b/c i've gone soft

my goal is mostly maintaining. in order to do that i have to keep eating the same amount for breakfast and lunch. also, no snacks or alcohol in the evening.

i'm planning on running 3x a week and walking 2 miles every day. As well, I hope to run a 5K in late April.

My goal at this point is to tone up more and develop more endurance. I have asthma, which totally sucks, and sometimes I let exercise go by the wayside even though I know building up endurance is what's best for the asthma. In the summer I'm quite active but I've been slacking so far this winter with my cardio. Still doing weights though.

I've also been bad the past few weeks about my eating - I usually don't eat any refined sugar/preservatives, white flour crap stuff but for some reason I've been craving Pop Tarts - really need to nip that one in the bud!

My goal is to get my butt moving. I've lost my motivation and need it back! I know once I start running again, the motivation will fall in place. I simply HAVE to get started.

I want to do something everyday: running, walking, etc.
Long term: I would LOVE to run a half marathon this spring. If I start now, I should be able to do it if I don't injure myself. (I had a foot injury last winter that stopped me, and then I pulled a muscle this fall...ugh)

I'll join in. Put on so much weight when DH went through the 2 years of Cancer treatment. Although there are still a lot of issues, finally feel ready to knuckle down and lose some of the lbs
Less rubbish to eat
More exercise

Here's my ticker (I hope - if it works !)

My goal is to loose at least 60 lbs this year... but I should really loose 160 lbs. But starting low to keep motivated.

This week:
Aqua Zumba twice a week... check!
DVD yoga once a week... I still have two days, haha
Drink at least 60oz of water a day... not been good with that this week
Watch carb intake... not good either

My dad was rushed to the ER a few days ago and now at my house recouping - so I'm totally stress eating, not good at all...

I'd really love to lose 60lbs but 40-50lbs is a more realistic goal considering 60lbs would put me at high school skinny. I don't think that dream is attainable lol! But since I've been trying to get pregnant that kinda makes things harder. So I'm really trying to eat better and be more active for now.

My initial goal is to get down to 210 by the end of the month. Ugh. I hate even seeing that number right now. I also want to continue working on toning up my arms.

I want to lose 20lbs and run a 10k this year...

I want to eat healthier so instead of going out fast food once a week we have decided to go to one nice/healthy option restaurant once a month... I want to be better at meal planning and choosing foods that are better for me and don't mess up my blood sugars but give me the energy I need.

I want to go on daily walks/hikes/bike riding trips with the kids and on top of that start running again by myself and maybe complete the ripped in 30 on days I can't run or my off days... That means getting up earlier in the morning so that I can get it complete before the kids are up which means I need to go to bed earlier.

I also want to make meditation a high priority this year and I think the only way I'm going to be able to do that is if I put it in my schedule... I just seem to have better days if I make the time for rest and meditation.

Heather, when it comes the the weekly fastfood we are bad for that too. I was able to find a local mom that delivers homemade meals for the same price we were paying for fast food. I set that up for 2x a month to give myself a break with cooking. Maybe you can find something like that to help out?

I want to lose 60-70lbs and exercise...I would say exercise more but I don't do anything right now so I need to get off my bum and get busy...

I also want to walk/run the Las Vegas half marathon in December. That gives me 11 months to get it together...

Goals:
-Lose 50+ lbs
-Run/walk 3x a week
-Strength training 2x a week
-Drink 8+ cups water/day
-Eat healthier
-No soda or sweet tea (I've been doing this since the 1st and it's the easiest of all the goals for me)

I swore last January (2011) when I signed up for the Warrior Dash (January 2012) that I would be thinner. Instead I lost 25 pounds and then gained back 35....ugh!

Instead I am just doing the Warrior Dash at my current heavier weight anyway next Sunday the 22nd. My goal is to just finish LOL!

my goal right now would be to be under the weight I think I am for my first weigh in at the gym

my goal for the next 6 weeks would be to lose 10 pounds before I go back to school

then my next goal would be for mid may (as my grandma who I live with is away for a month and she comes back on 5/20) would be to lose a further 20 pounds

by my birthday in july I'd like to have lost a total of 40 pounds

I don't have set goals as such but I want to lose at least 70lb.

I also want to start running, I don't run at all do it'll be hard but I can do it. I want to do more types of exercise as well as the gym so I'm booked into various classes at the local leisure centre!

Overall goal for the year:
--Lose 70 lbs (that breaks down to about 6lbs per month).
--Do a 5k at some point during the year
--Get a bike with kid trailer, ride bikes at least 3 days per week during the summer
--Work out 3-5 days per week
--Find ME (emotional health)

Goals for January:
Start food log/tracking (this will start tomorrow) I started in July & had lost 20lbs just by changing the diet, then the holidays came, I pulled some muscles in my shoulder and lost all motivation.

I want to look amazing in my swimsuit this year and possibly try to shrink my boobies (C cups are just too massive on short, short-waisted people). And, I want a mommy makeover (read: plastic surgery) come mother's day to help with stretch marks and perk up the girls.

So, that means getting my bodyfat lower (hopefully that will affect the bewbs).
Which means, 3 cardio sessions a day (at least 20 min)
Weight training: 2 upper body / 2 lower body sessions per week

Yes, it's a bit manic, but this is just the final push before summer. I've been doing stuff all along.
I'm happy with the other stuff I'm doing. I already drink loads of water and nothing else, and I'm such a picky eater, that calories really aren't my concern.

My goals are to:

-Lose 35 lbs.
I need to lose more like 50, but 35 is my initial goal because I know I feel healthy and look much better at that weight. Anything below that is much harder for me to maintain, but if I make it there, I'll set a more ambitious goal. I'm down 5 lbs so far.

-Do SOMETHING active each day.
Some days it may only be 10 minutes, but anything consistent would be better than now.

-Continue to track calories and limit the junk.
I'm great about eating healthy foods, but I need to eat less overall and resist temptation better.

My big goals are to lose 30 pounds and to start running again so I can pass my PT test at work easily. I also want to be better about taking care of myself, like not skipping flossing when I am tired, putting on a face mask once a week, etc. Just taking better care of myself over all.

This week is my first week back into it, so my goal was to just eat well & drink water. Next week I'm going to throw my workouts back in. Hopefully.

So far this week I've been 200-400 calories under my goal each day & I've done pretty well with water except for today. For some reason I kept forgetting to drink during the day. (It was probably keeping all 20 of my little mouths quiet all day. It's like there's a storm coming in or something... )

Ooooh, you just had me sit down for a while and really think about this!

Overall goal: incorporate more exercise and activity in my day-to-day life.
Specific goal: exercise at LEAST five times a week--this is aerobic and strength-training
Action steps: Okay, working on these! I can't afford a gym so will have to do home videos and invest in weights.
End-all goal: By August, I want to give my husband (for his birthday), an album of me in a boudoir shoot! I've asked around and found a photographer so hopefully I can make this happen! Eeeeeek!

Ok, so my aim is to be more active, fitter and healthier. Also to take care of what is on the outside. As soon as I get my Jan paycheck I'll be signing up at the Gym

I'm doing mine in weekly goals and will be adding something to it every week.
This week: Eat breakfast every morning before 9 am. Keep Laptop out of the Bedroom.

I'm here... I just need to get healthier, and figure I'll loose the extra lbs I packed on last year along the way. No more sweets during the weekdays, no more soda during the weekdays, and healthier dinners. I dunno what my weight goal is at this point, but I think I'd like to loose at least 10 lbs.

My goals this year are to
1.) exercise daily
2.) lose 40 pounds (hopefully more)

Mini goals I currently have are
1.) work out for 25-30 minutes a day (2 days done )
2.) cut back to 1 soda a week (for now by New Years Eve I want to completely cut soda out)
3) cut back on sweets

I know I can't go cold turkey because I will just rebel and fall back into my old habits. For the past two nights I've been doing 25 minutes of exercise.

My goal is to exercise at least 5 times a week in a variety of exercises. I was addicted to spinning in the fall, but did too much of it and got tendonitis in my ankle. I'm just about ready to hit the gym again but need to avoid overuse injuries.

Andd of course, I want to lose 10 pounds. But that's been my goal for, oh, 15 years or so.

I have several healthelated goals this year:
Lose a pound a week (already down 5.4 pounds!) - I need to lose about 130 pounds, but this will get me at least going in the right direction
Drink at least 10 8oz glasses of fluid per day (mostly water, but herbal tea counts as well as 1 glass of milk)
Do two half marathons (though this may have to go down to one if my foot doesn't get better soon)
Exercise at least 3 times per week

I am using our Kindle Fire to help me track things, but I think my husband is getting upset with how much I'm using it (versus him)....

I have to take my goals one step at a time, so my first goal is to lose 2 more lbs this week. I don't just want to lose weight, I want to change my lifestyle so that I can keep it off. To do so I need to change my relationship with food. I have adopted the mantra that "Food is Fuel." I need enough to run my body efficiently and I need to make sure I am eating it in the right combinations. I am happy with my progress on WW so far, but I am less than two weeks in and have a long way to go. But this is my year for change, so I am going to make it happen.

Okay I started working out again (3o minutes each day) on the 15th! I've also been marking the calendar to "celebrate" finishing each day. It'll make me happy to see those all in a row. I had an early, all-day shoot today so I opted to walk home from my photographer's studio (about a 30-minute walk) to make up for not working out.

After maybe a week or two of this I'll add more strength-training exercises

long term goal: lose 40 pounds
goal this week: keeping a food journal, increasing water

i know that i get overwhelmed with big goals and lots of goals - so if i keep it small, short and sweet, i do better. i am back to counting calories.

Overall Goal for 2012:

- Lose 40 lbs by September 7th (our 10 yr anniversary) This will put me at the weight I was when we got married
- Be able to run 30 minutes non-stop by the end of the year. Gonna take baby steps to accomplish this!

I'm starting off with a goal to lose 50 lbs, there is a lot more to lose after that but it's too daunting to think of altogether so I'm breaking it down.

I already drink enough water to float the navy and I've cut out my snacks and chocolate, I'm watching my carbs and extending my doggie walking walks in an evening so doing more steps and I've cut out the fat

Good luck everyone, it's great reading everyone's goals!

I am going to be having gastric bypass in March. So, my goals are a little bit different. But, here they are:

- lose my 50 lbs that I have to lose for my pre-op weight loss
- strengthen my core in preparation for the surgery
- work up to walking 10,000 steps a day

after my surgery:
- lose 120 lbs at least
- walk over 10,000 steps
- be healthier, happier, and more able

Paula, congrats on making such a huge decision for your health! I have been considering WL surgery, for a while. I have been fighting the scale most of my life.

Sally, jump right in

Thanks Jenn

My goals for 2012
ecover from surgery (should be complete by the end of February, and must be done before I can begin any diet or exercise regimen)
-lose 30 lbs
-continue to cook in a more healthy way. Use whole grain products when possible, use less oil and butter in recipes
-work out for a minimum of an hour 4 times a week (a mix of cardio and strength training)
-get toned. I don't have a ton of weight to lose, but I need to get my body in better shape.

I didn't see this thread before - better late than never though!

My initial goal is to lose 5% of my body fat (about 10 lbs), but my long term goal is to lose about 60 lbs!
Another (silly) goal I have is to buy myself new panties - in a smaller size! LOL!
