Hunting Photos?
I am scrapping a hunting trip right now. Do you think anyone would be offended by a dead deer? Should I leave it out?

I would include it... If people are offended, they can just turn the page. I'm not a hunter, but my husband is and most of his pictures from age 8+ include some kind of dead animal. lol. It's a running joke between us.

They are your memories and I feel like if you want it on the page, then you should include it. If someone doesn't like it, they don't have to look. (I have tons of dead deer pics though so my opinion may be pretty one-sided LOL)

I wouldn't be but my hubby is a hunter. It is part of the story so I would totally include it.

I would think it would depend on how graphic the dead-ness is - if it has a big hole with lots of blood or pictures from processing the carcass, I would pass on those in there. However, if it is just a lifeless body without much obvious damage, I would include it.

There was a discussion about this on another scrapping site and my opninion then was if you don't like it don't look. It is part of the story and in my experience it rarely shows blood or gore. It is no different then scrapping fishing pictures IMO.

If it's a layout for your personal albums then put what you want in them - no one has to linger over it, IMHO. Your albums should include what you want in them

I don't hunt, or really know anyone who does, but it wouldn't bother me a bit to see a hunting lo... why can't a lo about hunting be as inspirational to me as any other. I wouldn't worry about it. If your uncomfortable posting them in galleries, you could just blur out any parts that are particular gory if you felt like it. But it's totally up to you. |

I would scrap it. It's your page and your album and I think you should have in it what you like. Hunting doesn't bother me though; I'm from the Deep South and it's just a part of life down here.

Well, I decided to include it. There is no blood or anything. Its just my son and step-dad posing next to their deer. I only posted it on one site so far just in case and its already gotten a couple of comments on it. So it must not be too bad.

I'm glad you went ahead and posted. I agree, people do not have to look, but my goodness, we see so much worse on TV and in moves, etc that a hunting photo with a dead deer should not shock or offend anyone.

I don't mind on an sb layout where I can usually tell from the thumbnail whether it has anything in it that I don't want to see and skip over it if I choose or don't feel like I have the stomach for it just then.
A friend of mine on FB, though, will post her husband's latest kill as her profile picture and then share 20+ bloody gory pictures in an album. That makes me a little sick to see. I realize it's her FB page and she's entitled to post whatever she wants, but still... |

Yep...agree it's a totally personal thing. I'm not sure I would plaster it all over a public place, but your album...that's yours.

I would include too. They are your memories.
If you think people are offended you can blurry the pictures maybe a little bit before uploading for web?

Just wondering what kit you used for your hunting photos. I have some I need to scrap.

I'm glad you chose to include them. We're not hunters, but I'm all in favor of memories being scrapped and it sounds like they're a part of the memory.

Hunting used to tug at my tender heart until I realized that people are not just hunting, they are feeding their families and I have no problem with people taking care of their families. I will eat a cow, chicken or pig in a minute, so how can I go "aww, poor Bambi." One of my closest friends has an Outriggers business in Wyoming for game hunters. I see a lot of hunting photos and what I notice first is the smile on the face of the hunters.

Funny enough, Lorie, I am a vegetarian. I won't eat any of those things. My son on the other hand is a meat eater and loves eating venison, but what he really loves is spending time with his grandpa doing something he loves.

I don't really "get" hunting and why someone would want to go out and personally kill an animal (unless you had to in order to eat), but I'm also a "live and let live" kinda person and wouldn't have a problem with someone posting a page about it. Like others have said, people don't have to look if they don't want to.

In the area I now live in, hunting is big and for many people is is a staple of their freezer. While I would not do it personally (I already cry at the dead animals on the side of the road) I can appreciate the need for it now more than I did before.
