Default I am soooo sad... *UPDATE*

I feel like crying. Over the last 3 days, we had a huge snowstorm and big dump of snow and we have these awesome snow drifts and snow banks. We bundled up Avalynne and she had a blast playing in it, and we got some REALLY cute pictures. Like REALLY cute. I was so excited to scrap them!

Anyways, we took them on our way over to my parents, and we were showing them the pics and they loved them too. Then a friend of thiers stopped in, and Dad showed him the pics on the camera. Well, he's not digi-camera savvy, and he all of a sudden said "I can't find any more pictures - but I just pushed this round button". My heart dropped. I grabbed my camera, and all I saw was the blue screen with NO IMAGE written on it.

The round button was the DELETE button, and he cleared our whole memory card!!! All the pics we took today of Ava in the snow are gone. I am sooooo upset. Of course I didn't tell him that, he felt really bad. But even my DH was upset, because we'd already picked out our favorites for scrapping & printing.

Sniff snifff....

Yeah, we are planning on a reshoot, but some of the pictures we can't get again. Like the driveway was thigh high snow and we had pics of her standing in the path we dug & its up to her head. Well, the driveway has since been cleared after taking those, so they won't be able to be taken again... but a lot can. Our favorite was one that was just a close up of her rosy cheekies, so thats easy enough. And of her standing in a drift, that can be re-taken.

It's just so dissappointing...

Oh no!

Have you tried a card recovery software Jae? We used one to successfully get the photos back on my stepmom's CF card last summer after her card failed during download to the computer. It even got back ones that had already been deleted from the card. The software was $29 I think but well worth it since she got back irreplaceable photos from their Alaskan vacation!

Do you know if the card recovery works if you take new pictures on it? We've taken a couple more since he wiped the card clean..

Oh, I understand that heartbreak. Good thing you can try to do a reshoot of some of the pics.

Well, it wasn't that he just hit the button... because the default is to just delete the frame your on. But he panicked and clicked the over button, which sent the option to delete all frames, and he tried to get out of it by pushing okay. He really panicked when the blue screen popped up. I honestly don't think he even read what the message said, he was just trying to get back to the pictures.

And I'm still waiting for the package. It might be there today, but the roads are pretty impassable.

It should be able to, if I remember correctly she had already cleared some of the photos from the beginning of their trip and then took more on the card when it failed and it recovered almost 8gb of photos. The one we used was from cardrecovery.com, it's free to download and try and if it recovers your photos then you pay for it (I just checked and it's $39.95 now) and the software stays on your PC for future use too.

Yea I once reformatted my card and used the software and was able to get the pictures back on the card and even got alot of pictures that I had already removed prior to that. I would defenitely at least try the software. Most of them you can try for free and only pay if it gets the pictures you wanted.

Jessica - do you remember the name of the site you used?

I found photo-saver.com, and its only $16.95 for this month... I might try that one first, because the other is $44.50 CDN... a little pricey for 20 pics.

I just searched for photo restoring software and came up with a bunch of options and almost all of them allowed yout to d/l the software for free to see what they can recover. they are only like thumbnails to show you whats on it though and then if the pictures are there you pay for the licensing of the software which was between 30 and 40 dollars I think

My husband recovered our pictures from Scotland for free, so I know that software exists. However, he is a super hacker, so I'm hoping it was legit! He's reformed , but you never know! When he gets home from work, I'll ask him what he did. It may be super complicated, though.

Aww, that sucks! When went to Billings, MT 2 years ago and then on the way back stopped to visit my sister. I took a bunch of pictures and then accidently reformatted the card and lost them all. I never thought of doing anything to recover them. It sucked though. Good luck!

Woohoo!! Good news!

I found a free recovery program (thanks Chelsey!), and it recovered my files! Not 100% of them because I know of a couple that are missing, but I am so happy that most are back!! YAY!

Wow, that would be awful. I'm very happy that you got your pics back! Would you mind sharing the name of the software you used? I lost over two years worth of photos several months ago when my ehd died and I didn't even think about trying to retrieve deleted photos off my memory cards. There are new photos on them, though . . . think it would still work? At this point I'll try anything!

Jaedyn, would you mind sharing what program you used? Yesterday I accidently resized a group of pictures to 4x6 PIXELS instead of inches! DOH! There are only a couple that I would be really sad to lose so I don't really want to pay to recover them TIA!

I'm glad you have your pics back! Hope to see some of them in your beautiful pages!

P.S. I have Rescue Pro - a recovery program which came w/ my Sandisk memory cards - installed in my computer. Once you hadn't take anymore shots w/ your camera the thing recovers everything! I had to use it once...

I can find the name of the program, but a couple weeks ago Deb tried using it and its no longer free. I think there is a fee of $40 for it now.
