Default Homecoming dresses

I think I will be having to purchase a dress for Homecoming this year for my freshman. I'm not sure where to start though? Where do you all like to shop for Homecoming dresses? Something modest, nothing strapless. Help please!!!

Last year we got my freshman's at Windsor. This year's came from Francesca's. They are both stores at our mall. Shop early if you are not going the online route because there will be nothing left.

I know my pre-teen granddaughter (will be 13 in October) loves Rue21 so you might want to check there. Another place that I bought my daughters was a consignment store - not sure if you have any in your area but they usually have some nice ones at reduced prices.

Ross has REALLY cheap dresses---it's my go-to place!

Another thing is Rent the Runway, a lot of military wives use it to rent dresses for the military balls. It's affordable (at least they make it sound like that).

Check your local FB groups to see if anyone has a dress for sale. We found out after prom last year there is a program here where you can turn in your used prom dress and exchange it for someone else's prom dress!! Isn't that fabulous?!

Macy's and Nordstrom! We were out shopping last week and found some cute modest dresses at Dillards too.

This is my daughter's first year to have semi-formal dances at school. Because I don't see her wearing those dresses more than once or twice, I hate spending big bucks. So for the past couple of months we have been looking at some local resale/consignment/thrift shops. If you are willing to look, you can find some great items for a very low cost.

Check with other moms about what the girls wear. Most times homecoming is a short dress rather than full-length & prom is full-length....Maybe I'm the only one who didn't know this when my daughter was in high school

Davids Bridal has lots of dresses, short and long, and usually have decent sales. I, thankfully, only had one kid who wanted to go to prom, then last year my junior made her own dress for prom so Im a happy mama lol

You're right. We just had homecoming on Saturday. 99% of the dresses were short.

Well, I have 3 girls in HIgh School, but she is the only one with a boyfriend....plus he's a football player, so her chances of being asked are pretty high! If all 3 want to go, I really need to keep the prices low!

Tammy, for some reason I knew that about homecoming dresses....not sure why or how!? I never went to a homecoming dance during High School....so this is a fun adventure!

I did some looking and price checking today- charlotte Russe, Kohl's and JcPenney are looking the best price wise. I will check some resale- I don't have anything against that! A few years ago, we were at Goodwill and they were having a 99cent sale. We got 5 dresses from David's Bridal all for 99cents each!!! The girls wore them to Spring Banquet at Church, but half of them aren't fitting anymore! But it doesn't hurt to look!

One of her older sisters is in touch with "the boy" so that she can be around to take photos when he gets around to asking!

I don't think my daughter's high school has a homecoming dance. Guess I better find out for sure. Haha!

Lol at how different girls and boys can be at that age. My son is a freshman this year, but if it has the word "dance" in the name, he wants nothing to do with it. Maybe one day!
