Medical Question - HPB meds
I just found out I have high blood pressure. My top number is good, but my bottom number is running between 95-100 which my doctor does not like. I knew I was border line and I thought losing weight would help, but apparently it hasn't, so the DR put me on BP medicine. I've been taking it for four days now and I feel completely exhausted and a little dizzy most of the time. I looked it up and both are side effects of this medicine. Now she said it might take me some time to get used to it, but that it was important I take it, so I don't want to just stop taking it, well actually I do, a lot, so I am wondering how long this goes on before you do get used to it. Anyone have experience with this?

I don't but my mother has been on BP meds for 16 years and she goes through periods like this any time they adjust her meds. It can take a while to find the right dosage etc for you. If it continues I'd call your doc and let him know...it may be that you need a slightly lower dose. But don't not take them...BP is serious stuff and if my Mom misses just one dose hers goes way up.

I just got started on hbp meds last week So far I have not had any trouble with it, but if it really bugs you call the doc, maybe they could try a different med? Sorry, I hate going through that, I feel for you.

Definitely tell your doctor! I would assume that they wouldn't want you feeling dizzy all the time.
I hope you find some relief soon! |

Thanks Ladies, I will keep taking it and call her on Monday. I did a little more research and some times the medicine I am taking can react with anti inflamatory meds like the one I am on for my heel. I think it is probably the combination that is the problem. Can I just say I hate taking medicine.

Good call on the anti-inflammatory meds - ibuprofen, motrin, naproxen all can interact with BP meds.
