QOTD - You Should Love This, Too - 09.28.15

Persuade us other SSDers why we should love your latest obsession, too.

If you are friends with me on FB, you know I'm obsessed with the TV show 'Hart of Dixie.' So far, I've managed to hogtie... er, gently convince... two of my friends into watching (and loving) it.

What's not to love?! It's a classic 'duck out of water' storyline with a NYC doctor (played by Rachel Bilson) moving to life in smalltown Bluebell, AL. I love the way each character evolves (or temporarily devolves) as you go through each season, and each character screws up (bigtime!) but manages to find his/her way back to the right path. Rachel's character, Zoe, is an endearing mix of lots o' book smarts and zero common sense. It's a comedy so there are lots of hijinks and hilarity, but the show has a big heart, too, and you will find yourself rooting for the underdog romantic interest of Zoe's within an episode or two. It's cute and sweet and goofy and PERFECT.

The fourth season was cut short because of the aforementioned Bilson becoming pregnant IRL & then the show was cancelled after that. While the show's creator did not know for sure that the show was being cancelled, she had a good hunch, so the last episode of the fourth season does tie up all the loose ends.

You can watch the first three seasons on Netflix. The fourth season should be moving over there soon(ish).

I watched it this past spring from beginning to end...you are right, all loose ends were tied up in the end, but I was sooooooooo sad when I realized that was it! That's the problem with binge watching... I spend so much time "with them" everyday, they felt like real friends and family...and then POOF they were gone and it was on to the next one. lol

Okay, so when I get obsessed with something I go completely nuts for a couple of weeks. Like, seeking out YouTube videos, pics, etc. I already had my Hart of Dixie phase (Wade Kinsella...swoooooon! I love him.). And my Friday Night Lights stage (Matt Saracen - ADORABLE). And my country music phase - although that fades in and out. I always love it, but not always to the obsessive point.

Right now, I'm obsessed with George Ezra. He's adorable. Like I want to give him a big squishy hug because he's adorable and SO SUPER TALENTED. His music is different and refreshing. And have I mentioned about how he's adorable? Because he is. I want to be his friend. (And Brett Eldredge, too.)

LOVED Hart of Dixie.

I try to get everyone to watch Once Upon a Time, Colin O'Donoghue aka Hook is the main reason, but the show is really fun and it's our weekly family time.

Keira and Cooper both love that we all sit down and watch it together. If you're a Disney/Fairytale nut, it's pretty cool to see these classic stories get a fun, new twist! Plus, Hook is yummy! The first 4 seasons are on Netflix, season 5 started last night, but we haven't watched it yet.

Totally agree with Vanessa and Eve. I'm trying DESPERATELY to get Dusty to love it with me. It's hard work getting this man to love fairytales!

My boyfriend and I just got into The Strain and I love that show too.

Oh fun thread! I'm going to pick some make-up I love. I have a bit of a lip gloss addiction - I've owned many expensive ones - but my fave is the Almay color + care liquid lip balm. I own most of the shades and love it! Perfect for at home or at work - it's softly glossy without being gloppy or drying. Plus it's inexpensive so you can buy a bunch of them to try the shades.

Okay, I am obsessed with a bunch of things but let's going with my newest addiction. That would be my new favorite alcoholic drink, Not Your Father's Root Beer. Yes, you read right, alcoholic root beer. It is beer with vanilla extract with spices so it takes like root beer. With a kick! For those of you who don't like the taste of beer or wine, this perfect. Plus, adult root beer floats! Is there anything more perfect in the world?!?! I think not.

I've been obsessed with the author, Tom Rath, and his books lately. i love learning, and he writes about how to be healthier and happier in concise, informative bites.

On the growing side, too, I just discovered that another of my favorite self-help authors has a podcast with little tips for happiness: Happier With Gretchen Rubin. I've been listening to it while I walk, and it makes me want to walk longer. But I'm generally weird like that.

My husband loves that root beer. I tried it but found it had an after taste that I didn't really love.
