Default Just got my new Macbook Pro! Woohoo!!

But, boy is there going to be a learning curve switching over from Windows. I can tell already that I'm going to like it once I get used to the differences. The first thing I need to do is to get all my files transferred over from my old laptop. It seems pretty straightforward, but (like everything) I'm complicating it because I want to try to do it in a way that Crashplan won't have to back up all the files again. Once I get the files moved over, I'll be able to try out Photoshop and Lightroom on it. That'll be the true test of how well I like it

The weirdest thing right now is how quiet it is. I got the new model with the retina display and solid state memory instead of a hard drive. I don't even hear the fan running. The only thing I can hear is my fingers clicking on the keyboard. It's wonderful!

Well, I'm off to get my EHD to get an up-to-date backup of my laptop before I transfer the files. Wish me luck

awesome! I've heard that there definitely is a learning curve, but it will probably be more than worth it. I'm too much of a cheapo and scaredy cat to make the switch. My biggest expense besides buying it would be replacing Photoshop. No can do for now!

I can't fathom that you won't like it. It's so incredibly intuitive, though it might take a few days to train your brain.

When I first switched to a Mac, I could not for MY LIFE figure out how to uninstall a program. I looked everywhere in the program, in Finder, in Help. Finally I called a friend of mine. He said, "Click on the program. Drag to trash. Voila!"

And yes! I love how quiet my Macbook is. Just one of the many things I love about it!

Ooo, good to know! How are you liking the retina display? That's what I'm planning to get - just need to go ahead and order it. I can't wait.

The retina display is great! And the more I use it the more I like it. It's little things like files unzipping as I download them and the awesome multi-touch touchpad. The best thing is that PS and Lightroom both run really fast. Now in all fairness to my old PC, this Mac has a faster chip and more memory, but it's really a lot faster. It boots up faster and programs load faster. I'm finding that I don't miss the extra couple of inches in the display, either. This machine is incredibly light and portable; I can take it pretty much anywhere and scrap! I have heard the fan (unlike what I said in my earlier post), but it's pretty quiet and doesn't come on very often. Yes, I <3 my new Mac

And just in case you don't know (which you probably do), military folks can get a discount right from the Apple website. Saved us a bunch!
