Post your recommendations good chapter books for kids making the transition from picture books to chapter books. These books are usually targeted for grades 1-3 (loose guideline).

this thread makes me so happy, as I honestly feel that these are the books that set my Henry's reading path ablaze ♥ He's now reading [at 9] 2-3 of these shorter chapter books and one middle grade chapter book per week.

his hands down ultimate favorites are :
Geronimo Stilton Series [all of them! including the spin off adventures ie: Kingdom of Fantasy, Journey through Time, Spacemice + Cavemice]

Notebook of Doom Series

My Weird School Series [including My Weirder School + My Weird School Daze]

Dragon Master Series ... this is a brand new series [book 3 was just released] that is absolutely wonderful! beautiful illustrations!

Magic Tree House Series

My son loved the Ready Freddy books. The main character loves sharks and the word 'FIN' is hidden in every illustration (so I'm told, I could rarely find it). I was not a huge fan of the behavior modeled in these, but with discussion, they were ok for us.

We've also enjoyed these ones. Both of these are mystery stories.

I'm definitely watching this thread, Rachel is a bookworm and I need new books for her. She loves the G Stilton series as Loni mentioned and all books by Roal Dahl

My 8 year old really likes the Bad Kitty series:

She also likes the Rainbow Magic fairy books:

Last year when she was in grade 2 she really liked Thea Stilton:

We have tons of those fairy books! Keira loves them, even though they're a little too easy for her now, she still enjoys them.

These are some others she likes.
