Default Brand new to digital scrapbooking need HELP

Hi. I am brand new to digital scrapbooking.. I have bought a few kits from here that comes with an alphabet.. is there anyway to use the alphabet in Microsoft word to make titles to print and cut out to put into scrapbooks?

Also, do you have to have a special program to make the layouts or to use the custom layouts here? Thanks so much for your help!

You can import files into word, insert > picture > from file. I believe you can import .png and .jpeg files.

As for a special program to make the layouts, there are a few programs out there that you can use Photoshop Elements (there is a free 30-day trial available at the Adobe site) is relatively inexpensive ~$79. Some folks have Photoshop CS - I dont think I'd recommend that for a beginner. Also, some people use Paint Shop Pro and there are other Digital Scrapbooking Software available.

There are a variety of sites out there with tutorials for getting started. The FAQ here recommends...
DigiScrappin with Jen - a Blog with information on just about anything and everything you'd want to know about our craft. A great place to start and then some!

Scrapbook Bytes Tutorials - THE #1 Digital Scrap site on the internet for a reason. They have lots of program specific tutorials that focus on a wide variety of aspects of digital scrapbooking.

ScrapArtist - There are a handful of really good tutorials in the forums at ScrapArtist, certainly worth checking out for newbie and experienced scrappers alike.

HTH!

Welcome to digital scrapbooking and SSD!

I have MS Word 2003 and I can drag and drop the alphas from the digital scrapbooking kits into Word.

Yes, you do need special software to make digital scrapbooking layouts. That question (and a whole lot of others about digital scrapbooking) is answered here on Penny Springmann's blog. She also has a group of tutorials about how to do things in several of the popular software packages - including using QuickPages (which I think is what you're referring to as the custom layouts).

Welcome to the Sweet Shoppe!

One of our designers, Misty Cato, has some tutorials that can help with learning Photoshop Elements (often abbreviated to PSE). Here is her tutorial section. I think PSE is an excellent program for digiscrapping. If you have a digital camera you might check out the discs that came with it because sometimes PSE is included with cameras. The newest PSE is PSE 9.0, but the older versions work fine for digiscrapping too.

Welcome to the beautiful world of digital artistry!
