How should I wrap...?
So, I'm trying to think of a clever way to wrap the Taylor Swift concert tickets. Jeff suggested doing something with the seating chart (marking where we're sitting), but I can't think of much.
We did get her a poster, so I'd considered putting the seating chart in with the poster, but that seems a little lame. We've done the scavenger hunt thing before, and while I'm not opposed to it, it's just not really clever for us anymore. So, I'd like to do something that is creative but unexpected. Something that doesn't scream "this is your big gift!" so that it's truly a surprise when she opens it. Any ideas? |

we're kinda dorky about wrapping here...one of my favorite ways to wrap things is to put it in a container filled with rice, oatmeal, cereal, etc. then tape the entire container shut, then wrap it. we do crazy stunts like that every year. or I love to trick DH by buying him a box of granola bars and sticking gift cards in there and resealing the box.

Did you get her any cute clothes? Maybe you could put the tickets in an envelope in the same package as the clothes and write on it "to wear to..." or something to that effect.
I'm kinda lame at that sort of thing. We got minecraft for our younger son and I'm having a hard time figuring out how to wrap it (that I can easily accomplish). |

How about something like this - http://snickelscornerscraps.wordpres...fun-gift-idea/ but print/write one letter per piece of paper to spell out we are going to see Taylor Swift on xxxxx date. She would have to keep pulling them all out and then assembling them in order to see what her gift is. (maybe numbering each one on the back would help lol). Hugs Crystal xx

How about scanning them onto a full sheet of paper and then cutting it up into pieces to form a puzzle? Or you could use a picture of Taylor at a concert, that might work even better.

Maybe something like this http://imacubmasterwhatnow.blogspot....-ball.html?m=1 you could put the tickets in the middle of the tape ball. She would think it is just candy until she gets to the tickets in the middle. Maybe wrap the whole ball in paper?

I'd do a fancy save the date card or something and frame it with the tickets (actually I'd make a copy of the tickets so you can fold them, etc and keep the actual tickets safely with you)
Does she have a favorite cereal or snack? If so I'd buy a box, open it and put an envelope with the copied tickets in there and reseal it...she'll be like what the heck when she unwraps a box of cereal and it might be a day or so later when she actually opens the box to see the tickets Sneaky surprise

I'd be a wicked meanie about it... put it in a small box, then a bigger one, and a bigger one, and another and another like 10 times, until it's all in a HUGE box. I'd be taping each one like crazy and stuffing the inside of each with lots of tissue paper and stuff. hahaha

I'd be careful making a copy of the tickets. Aren't they photo/sun sensitive? Maybe a picture of them if you need to tuck them into something.

Do you live close enough to the arena/stadium? If yes and you were up to a little road trip I would give a Christmas card to open that said she had to get in the car. Then drive to arena and park outside. When you get there give her a calendar to unwrap. On the date of the concert write Let's Meet Back Here for Taylor Swift Concert.

Fun ideas Good luck with it, Libby! So many to choose from.
My grandma REALLY got my mom good one year. She wanted a Mother's ring more than anything and she kept harping on it. My mom found a small box under the tree and just knew she was getting the ring. Well, Grandma removed the ring and placed a quarter in the box saying "sorry, couldn't afford the ring this year, but here's a deposit". So on Christmas morning, that is what my mom opened. She was so disappointed that it actually made us kids feel bad, but she had been snooping for quite some time and Grandma was frustrated with it so she really wanted to teach her a lesson. Anyway, Grandma bought mom an Elvis Presley doll that same year. My mom is a big Elvis fan. Everyone there knew that the ring was in with the doll. Mom just sorta looked at the doll and tossed it (still in the box) aside. Fast forward about 3 weeks and Mom had finally taken the doll from the box. She set it up in her room. She was cleaning and moved the doll's arm and off falls the Mother's ring. We hear her scream from her bedroom "dang you, Mom!" and Grandma just burst out laughing. My mom never snooped for Christmas gifts again. LOL My uncle asked my brother what he wanted for his birthday one year. He said 'cold hard cash'. My uncle got 2 rolls of quarters and froze them in a huge bowl. He put a little water and a few quarters and kept doing that, layer by layer, until he had all of the quarters suspended in this bowl. Then he plopped the ice from the bowl and wrapped it up. We all got a big kick out of it. My brother's birthday is in August so he just sat his 'gift' outside for a while and it melted rather quickly. LOL

write a really long message (song lyrics help) on a roll of toilet paper, then reroll it and wrap it back up. The tickets can be at the center of the roll.

Thanks for the ideas, girls!
I still can't decide! I like the calendar idea with a trip to the arena (it's just down the road) as well as the cereal idea. I've got a couple more days to decide! LOL |

Since you have done the scavenger hunt, maybe it is time to do a riddle. Come up with a riddle or poem that includes the words red, swift and concert, wrap it up in a box and let her figure it out.

I seriously love all these ideas! You guys are super clever!
We really tossed around the cereal idea and ALMOST went with it, but I think we've decided on this instead... We always do stockings first. So, we'll do stockings, then open gifts... Then after we're all done, she'll help us clean up (cause she's a good kid like that). And I'll say, "Hey, everyone double-check your stockings. We've found things left in them before, so make sure they're cleaned out before we put them away." And we will sneak around beforehand and put the tickets in her stocking after we're all done with everything else when she isn't looking. So, she'll be totally surprised cause she'll think we're all done. I think that'll get the bigger reaction instead of if she expect something big. And this really works out best because TECHNICALLY these are a birthday present instead of Christmas. Can't wait! Last edited by Libby Pritchett; 12-23-2012 at 08:59 PM. |

I've got it all on video, so Jeff said he'd put it up on Youtube for us. |

I honestly couldn't have asked for a better reaction.
We had her put her stocking items back in the stocking "so that Chloe doesn't get into them." When she wasn't looking, we snuck the tickets in. Then after she was all finished, we told her we wanted to take a picture of all her stuff. So, she built this nice little display of all her gifts, and then Jeff was like, "Why don't you add your stocking stuffers to it, too?" So she goes to get them and sees the envelope, and she was like, "Oh! I must've missed this before." So, she opened it up and FLIPPED OUT. Then when she realized where the seats were... it was just incredible. She's already planning what she wants to wear. LOL |
