Default Is anyone else sad about...

... the Leno/Conan mess going on over at NBC?

I have always been a big Leno fan (cannot STAND Dave Letterman). And I've been watching Conan since I was in high school. In fact, I usually (before he took over The Tonight Show), I would fall asleep right after Conan's monologue.

When I found out Leno was retiring, I was really bummed. But after watching Conan a few times, I was loving him! And I never once watched Jay's new show. I'm kinda over him now.

Anyways... I'm so bummed about them trying to push Conan out and get Jay back in his old time slot! Not that Jay sucks or anything, but Conan is doing great and I think its crap that they're breaking his contract like that to bring back Leno who will probably tank again because 'his time has come', kwim?

Anywho, am I the only one that cares about this?

Wow, his statement is incredibly well written and very professional--but also personal. I'm impressed. And he's been waiting for this for 6 years? That seems very wrong for NBC to do... and do they think it's going to help Jay? I haven't watched either regularly ever--I have watched Jay's new ones a couple times just after other shows, but I was bored easily. I agree it seems that his time has passed. I feel bad for Conan and think he totally deserves the show and time and everything--esp. after his statement. I wonder if this will really go through and he'll quit. Sad.

I'm not a late night watcher, but this situation makes me very upset. If anyone other than Jay Leno had a failing 10pm show--they'd just cancel it and be done. It's not right to push other shows back in the schedule to accommodate a failing show. I'm glad to see that Conan is speaking his mind on this and not just sitting back and taking it.

I don't watch either, really, but I don't think it's fair at all to bring Jay back and push Conan out. Not at ALL!

I haven't seen the new Jay Leno show, and I haven't seen Tonight Show since Conan took over either, but I used to love Conan on Late Night. It's a shame that they are treating him that way, and I think Jay Leno should just realise he made a mistake, move on and let Conan have his show. Go Conan!

I am totally Team Conan here- I don't watch either show (waaaay too late for me!) but I am so very impressed with how he is dealing with this situation. I hope that NBC deals with the mess they have made here in a fair way!

I friggen love Conan, he's hilarious.
Jay's new early show BLOWS. It's awful. That 10 at 10 nonsense is miserable with the ridiculous time delay from using satellites across the country. Earn your plug is stupid. The bits they do are generally, NOT funny. As someone else said, if it was any other show at the time, they would simply cancel it.
I think it's awful that they would do this to Conan, just because Jay made a stupid decision. And if they knew Jay wasn't going to be ready to ACTUALLY retire in 2009, then they never should have signed that deal with Conan back then.

When I was off work I became a huge David Letterman...I don't know why that guy makes me giggle but I think it sucks what they are trying to do to Conan...Jay didn't succeed at what he was trying to do so he should bow out gracefully...

It is simply unbelievable to me that NBC would do something so idiotic and disrespectful to someone who has made them millions of dollars for years upon years. While Jay appeals to people our parents' age, he certainly does not appeal to me or other people of my generation; how utterly lacking of vision to continue with someone who has limited appeal when the show and network is fighting for viewership as it is. 'The Tonight Show' has survived so long because of a few basic tenets with one of them being the time slot it currently inhabits. To change this fundamental fact is ratings suicide.

Conan deserves so much better, and I am so glad that he is standing up for himself and walking. I will happily follow him wherever he goes, and it's too bad that NBC will quickly realize after his departure what a monumental mistake they made. He will make some other network *coughFoxcough* very very happy and profitable.

Sarah, he graduated from Harvard magna cum laude, so he's a pretty smart well versed guy. That's why I love him so much.

I agree with everything Col and LA said. I love Conan very much! And while I enjoy Jay as well, I don't agree with what NBC is doing to the point where I won't watch Jay at all as a "boycott" LOL

While I liked Jay Leno when he was on The Tonight Show, I have not watched his new show. I also LOVE Conan. He freakin cracks me up, if he leaves NBC, I will follow him, too.

I am on the Conan Train too! He is so flippin' hilarious!!! I can't believe that NBC is just giving up on the show. I hope Conan does get an offer from somebody. He needs to be on tv.

i've never really cared for Leno; i'm Letterman girl. and i adore Conan! he cracks me up! (his comment apologizing for his hair at the end of his statement was just like him, lol) i would hate to see Conan be screwed over for freaking Leno. i don't think changing Leno's time slot will help him; i think he's just done, lol.

That is a very nice statement from Conan.

But, I'm not a Conan fan, I guess I don't get his humor.

I like Jay, but I love David Letterman, always have. The only time I watch Jay is if he has someone on I want to see, I rarely watch either though.

And honestly, I like Jimmy Falon a whole lot more than Conan & Jay.

So, its a mess. Its not fair the way their jerking them around whether you watch their show or not.

See I just think Jay is straight up boring and totally unfunny. I was a huge Letterman fan and was pissed when Jay screwed him over and stole the Tonight Show. Now he is screwing over yet another person (Conan). Not to mention that I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jimmy Fallon and he gets screwed over by Leno's antics as well.

IMHO, Jay Leno is a tired, unfunny, washed up ass and NBC is finally getting what they deserve for screwing over Letterman years ago. I feel so badly for Conan...The Tonight Show is a legendary show that has been soiled by Leno and the execs at NBC.....it is sad that Conan is the only one thinking about that. I hope Conan ends up with a hot show on another network and Leno does a complete flame out.

Sorry for the rant....but I have hated jackass Leno for years.

Ok, so #1). I'm totally glad I'm not the only person geeking out over this whole drama.

and #2). I agree with everyone else. I love Conan, I'm over Jay, and NBC sucks.

I will follow Conan anywhere.

We have all been Conan fans here...always have, and always will. My son is in there watching him right now (we Tivo them all). We really didn't care for Jay Leno...I prefer Conan's humor WAY more! We were just discussing this whole mess Jenny...and we're pretty upset at NBC.

Of course, I used to watch the Tonight show every night with Johnny Carson. It was just too hard to watch Jay after Johnny. Conan is fresh and hilarious!!
