Default Am I the only one....

who has to use an outside printer for all hybrid projects?

Like I have a really nice card design worked up for the 52 card workshop, but I have to take it elsewhere to have it printed, as my printer is just a regular, cheap printer.

I am too cheap to buy ink for my printer (and its not convenient as i live in the boonies with not even a walmart close)

I have yet to do any but i'm gonna get some ready and then just upload stuff to an online site to have it printed.

well my printer is just OK. I'm thinking of sending stuff to Kinkos to print b/c my printer doesn't do full bleed. or I just might print at home and glue onto a bigger piece of cardstock . . .

Sometimes I print at home, but I have my LOs printed as photos at www.scrapbookpictures.com, and many of my hybrid projects I print at the local office supply store - I just take my files in on a thumbdrive and tell them what I want done.

This is what I've been doing. I've been pretty impressed with Staples' printing

I'm not sure I'd get anything done if I had to go somewhere to get it printed. Plus, I'm usually jumping from one project to another, not necessarily planning, and I need my printer to be at my beck and call. I just try to stay stocked up on inks and papers.

Since I live 20 minutes from K, I am in the same boat. lol No ink and no place to get more without driving for over an hour. I am hoping to get some in a few weeks, have to get caught up on all household stuff first. hehehee

That is one of the reasons I don't do hybrid projects. That and my general ineptitude with scissors. I'd have to get the stuff printed at wal mart, drive a half hour one way to get it, drive back, and then when my scissors slipped, repeat the process. Maybe someday when I get a nicer printer.....

I get my layouts printed various places online

I'm the same way! I've got 4 hybrid projects in progress, lol.

I just went to staples and got extra ink carts and 2 packages of various papers. So I should be good for a while. I hope

I send out too - well for photos. Since I can't hook up my printer right now I'm going to try Office Max. I also have access to a color copier at work but the colors aren't right on and that frustrates me.

I print my hybrid stuff at home, but only because I have a monster color laser printer... I got it for work and it's phenomenal! And like some of the other ladies said, I wouldn't get anything done otherwise!

Photos I print at home most of the time and some of my hybrid stuff too, but for most of my hybrid I send it to DH at work and he prints it on the A3 laser and brings it back to me.

I use outside printing for nearly everything. Sam's, Office Depot, ShutterFly, Staples, online services such as Mpix. I've tried a bunch.
Anyone else not like their local Staples policy of charging $1.00 for "opening a file." Or is that just the one close to me doing that?
Never mind... I just read Ashley's response up above. Duh moment for me. And yes, Ashley, I agree it's a silly policy.

I've sent out to print too, but it's a real pain. You practically have to hold hands with some places. Now I'm waiting on the husband unit to get my new printer hooked up. It's sitting next to me just needing to be run though the set up

Think he would notice if I did it? lol

The only 2 hybrid's i've done i printed at home. We just got our printer a few monthsa go (HP Photosmart All-In-One) and it does really well. Just uses a lot of ink printing out those pages. I may try some online places once and see how they do.

I have a hp photosmart 8050 and i am in love with that thing. the quality is amazing to me. plus i found some awesome refill ink( not that crappy stuff you buy in stores) for my printer. I spend prolly 20 bucks a year on ink and you so cant beat that at all!!!! sometimes i use mpix and winkflash

I do most of mine at home on my Epson RX620, but also do some printing at our local Costco. I've been happy with the quality there for the most part, but prefer to print at home when I can.

I print everything at Costco and Scrapbookpictures. They both do a WONDERFUL job and I don't have to worry about buying ink for my not-so-great printer.

This is exactly why I just bought the Kodak 5500 printer. The ink is soooooooooo cheap!!! It's 9.99 for black and 14.99 for color. My cartridges seem to last forever. I think I printed over 50 8x8 layout plus misc. stuff with my last cartridge.

I've got an Epson Photo Stylus R220, and it's awesome! I print quite a bit and the ink lasts me several months. I think I paid $100 for the printer, and refills cost $95 if I buy them at Staples, but only $75 (for all 6 cartridges) if I buy at Costco. I should just go stock up on a couple packages of ink. But like I said, I only have to refill my inks every 6 months or so, and that's doing quite a bit of printing (test prints, reprinting cause I screwed up, etc, lol).

I just got a photo printer for Mother's Day (posted a rave about it on here), and now I don't know how I lived without it!

I was getting everything printed commercially as well, and it was a big pain in the rear. It's a long drive (I, too, live in the sticks), plus I'm so impatient! And, like several of you said, I have so many things going at once - AND I often wait until the very last minute to get something finished, which means I don't have time to run out and have it printed.

I'm keeping a count of the number of prints I can do with my printer, and am going to figure about how much it's costing me... so far I've printed quite a load of stuff and the ink is still going strong. Plus, the cartridges are only $9 each.

Being able to print at home is oh-so-convenient!

I don't have a printer at all, and I desperately want one so I can do some hybrid projects. I have some pages made, but just no way to print them right now. I send my LOs out to be printed, but I'd like to print the hybrid stuff at home for the convenience. I might check out the Kodak that was recommended.
