I saw my Mom today...
...problem is she died about five years ago.
The boys and I were at Walmart picking up some sundry items, and my mom passed by us down an aisle. She had the same hair, wore the same kind of clothes, was shaped the same, walked the same, carried the same kind of purse and carried it the same way, had the same wrinkles on her face. I was so startled...and called out to her. A split second realized that it couldn't possibly be her, then stood there in Walmart and cried. It was just so weird, because for a moment, I really thought it was her, and I just hadn't seen her in awhile. It was just SO weird! you'd think after all this time I still wouldn't be so easily convinced. lol |

Aww hugs Hon. It's never easy when you've lost someone dear to you. It seems out of the blue something happens and freshens up the hurt.

aw Darcy, I have tears in my eyes just thinking of that. ((Hugs)) I have had that happen too and thought I saw my mom and it's like your heart just stops for a second and then plunges into your stomach when you realize it's not her. I also get that when I am looking for a picture to scrapbook and suddenly there is a picture of my mom that catches my eye. It really rattles me, even a year after her death. I wish I could give you a real hug. Know I'm thinking of you.

((hugs)) Darcy...I've had that happen to me once and it definitely can throw you for a loop.
When it happened to me, I could have sworn I saw my uncle standing outside the food court of the mall, but he'd been killed about a year before...but this guy had the same posture, same plaid shirt/jeans/boots, same hair and sideburns, same glasses, face looked SO much like him...and the kicker was the same name on the back of his cowboy belt. I've heard that everybody has a twin, but sometimes seeing that person is just too hard.

Oh gosh.... {{Hugs}}... I like to think when things like that happen is that they are just giving you a sign that they are still there, watching over you... My mom use to have things like this happen. When her father passed away, she remembers being at church and someone whispered in her right ear telling her that he was okay and with him... the thing is that my mom is totally deaf in her right ear, has been for over 30 years.

Oh Darcy, I'm so sorry. (((hugs))) I've had that happen before, too. In fact it just happened a month ago. I was sitting in a restaurant and an older man came and sat down by himself. He was my Grandpa, but my Grandpa died 10 years ago (nearly to the day that I saw this man) ... he looked like him, had the same mannerisms - everything. I sat and looked at him, and eventually started crying.
(((hugs))) to you.

hugs, Darcy! I know that must be so hard -- I sometimes have such vivid dreams about my grandmother that it is startling when I wake up and they turn out to not be true. I imagine it must be much harder when it happens when you're awake.

I can't imagine Darcy, I'm so sorry... I saw my Granny once - even though she passed away 20 years ago. It was at Christmas Eve service at Church 2 years ago. I swear it was EXACTLY her. I was so sad at first, but then realized that I had my beautiful family with me and thought that it was wonderful that she was getting to see them. I think all the time how much she'd love my kids. I cried, too. I think those things happen as reminders to us that we're not forgotten - and neither are they. |

(((hugs))) I too have had this happen with my daddy. I couldn't even call out to him. One minute he was standing across the street then he started walking away. I just started bawling. I crumpled to the ground sobbing. Its such a hard thing to want it to be real but to know its not.

I'm sorry, but I completely understand what you mean. It's been 4 years since my dad passed away and I still dream about him and I wake up missing him. The hard part is that my boss looks a lot like my dad (same haircut, grayness, build, facial structure and some mannerisms), and when he wears his glasses out of the corner of my eye I swear it's my dad. I still get teary thinking about my dad cause I miss him so much.

awww, ((hugs))! its so hard to lose loved ones. I lost my grandma a few months after i graduated HS in '97. i was very close to her. i remember the last time i saw her as i was driving away; her sitting on her porch swing smiling and waving goodbye. the image is frozen in my mind to this day. and every now and then i swear i smell her perfume/soap, like roses and then it'll be gone just as suddenly. i like to think its her coming to see me.

((hugs)) Darcy. I can't imagine how hard that is. Every now and then I dream about the people I've lost, and it feels so real...waking up and realizing it isn't makes the whole day difficult. I am sure in real life it's much worse. Thinking of you!

Thanks, everyone.
I didn't realize he'd be effected so much by seeing this lady as he was only five when my Mom passed away, and I didn't think he'd remember enough about her. But last night, while getting ready for bed, he asked me, "Mom, are you sure that lady wasn't Grandma?" I just had to give him a big hug. He kept trying to follow her around the store to get a better look, just in case. |
