Sara, thank you for the update! I'm happy to hear Jeff is going to meet with the oncologist. You know you're in my prayers for the long haul. (((HUGS)))

I hope by now you have gotten something to control the pain a little better. It was horrible in the hospital with my husband when he started hurting and it was not time for his medication yet. I also hope the appt with the oncologist goes (or went) well. Not sure if you meant Monday this week or next.

They are putting him on percocet. He was on that in the hospital and it worked somewhat, so hopefully this will help him at least sleep.

how terrible you are having trouble getting him pain medicine. I know they don't hand them out for just anything...but hello...lung removal....kind of a big deal!!! Well I am hoping and praying he gets the same level of relief from the percocet at home as he did in the hospital!!!

I am surprised they did not do a time release type of pain med plus a regular one for breakthrough pain. I cannot imagine how much pain he is in but I know how much my husband was in and it took ALOT to get him comfortable when he had all those broken ribs. I am guessing the pain would be pretty similar though which is why it surprises me they dont want to give him something stronger. Those percocets and hydros have a spike where the pain relief is maxed then it starts to wear off quickly. Time release is more steady pain relief and you take a whole lot less medication that way

You are in my prayers! I hope the pain is a bit better today. I am so glad he has agreed to look at treatment options. Big, big hugs!

This! He is lucky to have you as his advocate and fighting for what he needs (even if he doesn't know he needs it ) If he's having uncontrolled pain, his will to fight will not be strong. Him agreeing to talk to the oncologist is a HUGE step in the right direction!

Continued thoughts and prayers for you, him and your family, Sara!
